I have heard of sauna mee many times but hav no intention to try coz it doesn't seem appealing to me. This place is popular with its concept of 'less salt, with no MSG, no white sugar and no white flour' (as claimed though i believe some msg is added into the soup to enhance the flavour).
I passed by their branch in Puchong Jaya around noon and there was no queue. Sooner after i was seated, a few groups of office workers came and occupied the leftover seats...
Their main item on the menu is Fish Sauna Mee or Vegetarian Sauna Mee. Both offer options of brown rice, pumpkin noodles, and mushroom rice noodles.
I ordered Fish Sauna Mee with mushroom rice noodles @ RM15. It was served piping hot in a stone bowl and with a small saucer of fried garlic.
The soup gets dry up very fast but it is refillable...I waited for the soup to cool down before having my first bite. Despite the hot soup, the noodles were still bouncy, unlike those overcooked noodles than can easily get mushy after being soaked in hot soup for some time.
the ingredients - mostly veggies...and only 2 to 3 slices of fish.
Very healthy indeed, but is too plain for my liking. I would prefer eating fish head noodles which is more flavourful and milky...but again, i can't compare them both as they are of different 'category'.
This meal cost RM16.80 after tax and service charges.

I would also prefer to eat more flavourful broths. Those healthy shops serving vegetarian food often tasted bland and boring. So I better not try this sauna food la.
I don't think their food is bland. My friend likes to go there so I have been to the branches in Setapak and Sri Hartamas but I don't quite like the fish sauna noodles which I ordered initially because I don't think those deep fried flavourful beancurd sheets that they put inside are healthy and the soup is too flavourful for me so now whenever my friend goes there, I will order the pumpkin rice instead.
Twilight Man: surprisingly a lot people flock into such outlet and it was full house while I was there.
Mun: maybe the outlets that you went put more ingredients into their soup and it tastes so flavorful? Personally I dun taste much of those veggies in the soup. Even the fish was tasteless.
So you eat and at the same time have a sauna? LOL! I read about this place from another blog and the blogger mentioned that his mum likes to go there because the food is healthy. But if the taste is plain/bland, I would not enjoy the food.
I like bouncy noodle, not those mushy overcooked noodle in soup.
Definitely not for me as I prefer flavourful and savoury food
If you would ask me, i'd definitely wanna go to a more meat kind of soup. XD
The noodle looks good and I like bouncy noodles with more veggie. I don't mind plain soup noodles but I still prefer the more flavourful type or more on the spicy type.
the flavourful soup is not due to the ingredients in it imho but dunno what they use to make it flavourful so that is why I don't like it. for the record, I don't like to drink soup in general. I wouldn't put this shop in the same category as those shops that specializes in double boiled cantonese soup so I am not scoring them on the taste of the soup.
