Hailam Kopitiam

Sometime back in the early January, i went to do some banking stuffs and ended up having a late lunch. Most of the nearby coffeeshop is almost closing, hence i decided to head to the air-conditioned franchised "Kopitiams" to get a quick lunch. "Old Town" and "Papparich" are out of my choice since i hav tried most of their food, hence the only available option would be Hailam.
since it wasn't peak hour, the place was almost empty with only a few tables occupied. Service was quick but the food still took long to be served.
here's my fried flat noodle aka "Char Kuey Teow".
the portion was huge, but the quality is under my expectation.
flat noodle is not the usual fine & thinly sliced "kuey teow" type, but it is more towards the broader "chee cheong fun" type.
Prawns aren't fresh and looks skinny, far cry from Penang char kuey teow version.
even the cockles are smallest size i have ever seen.
Will i come again?
i doubt not.

Local Cravings - Acar and Longevity Noodles

Some potluck going on during the early January, and sis came back from one of her fellowship group potluck with some ta-pau (take away/to-go) food packed in containers...
well, is good that they have overestimated the portion, hence alot of leftovers!
here's one of my favorite, called "Acars", something like salad but is more towards the sourish and spicy type.
Sliced and nicely cut carrots, cucumbers, long beans, cabbage all dumped into a container and mixed well with the chilli paste (and some lemongrass & vinegar), add in some pounded peanuts and sesame...
VOILA!
u'll get a perfect combination of local Malaysian salad called Acar!
some fried noodles to accompanied the dishes...great combination!
bon appetit!

Am I???

I have done this test 7 years ago, back then it was 50%, and now downwards to 45%!!!

You Are 45% Normal
While some of your behavior is quite normal...
Other things you do are downright strange
You've got a little of your freak going on
But you mostly keep your weirdness to yourself

Local Cravings - neighbourhood Nasi Lemak

This stall has been around for quite some time, jst right in front of the neighbourhood Shell petrol station. It is within walking distant from my house, but I dun usually frequented this area unless I'm droppin' by the petrol station to fill in some gas.
It operates in the morning from 6:30 onwards as to caters for the nearby office workers.
Offering a variety of warm food, such as fried noodles, fried rice, local malay kuehs, some dishes like beef rendang, sambal squid, sambal shrimps, fried egg, etc..
but their main attraction (i would say) is still the NASI LEMAK
Their nasi lemak is superb, the rice is fragrant, and all ingredients are freshly prepared with piping hot sambal (chili paste)....
p.s: avoid taking too much Nasi Lemak in the morning or u'll end up being sleepy afterwards!
well, in my case, i was on leave that day ;-)
bon appetit!

Abalone for Chinese New Year

This is a very over-due post which dated back to December/January. CNY has passed for almost 2 months now...but back then, as I mentioned earlier, I had some problem in uploading pics which causes all these delays!

December
Alrite, here are some yummy food pictures which i had taken during the 'photo-absence in this blog'. Rewind back the time:  Back when we celebrated "Winter Solstice" festival, i had the usual "tong yuen" (glutinous rice flour ball), which signifies harmonious and also marked the midwinter (almost "year-end of the Chinese lunar calendar"). The "tong yuen" were made of coloured flour ball and boiled with sugar/ginger syrup, but i had 'em in soy bean milk!
January
and when it comes to CNY, another thing to consider "MUST HAVE" is the reunion dinner.
here's one gift box consists of abalone and bird nest.
The abalone has turned into one main dish during the reunion dinner. Appetizing, no?
back in the office, some colleague baked cookies of all sorts and brought them to the office
just look at these colourful & "multi-pattern" cookies!
nice to see and nice to have ;-)

Finally, I managed to post pictures into blogger....

Well, if u noticed carefully, u'l find that i hardly upload any photos/pictures into Blogger lately. THAT was becoz i had this-very-technical issue with Blogger whenever i'm using IE browser.  I guess that the WAIT for Blogger to get it 'fixed' was jst too long, that now i switched over to Google Chrome jst for the sake of posting photos into blogger!
Due to this, u might hav missed out those 'moments', where i could possibly post up some juicy posts with 'picture-worth-a-thousand words' photos!
****sounding very emo here****
ALRITE, enuff of being emo....
Now that i found my way to solve tis problem, that i will make full use of this chance to upload a picture, hoping that it dun affect Chrome soon...*touch wood!
so, what's with this picture gotta do with my post here?!
ok, this is so un-related to the posting...
Anyway, i recently completed watching a chinese series, and i found this couple very sweet. This is one of the series promotional poster.
To describe this poster: Pure, sweet and lovely...LOL
On another note, i can't wait for the free trip to Shanghai next month. Flight ticket has been booked and visa has been approved! Yeay!
Talking about flight, my prayer goes to those onboard MH370. The search has been taking almost 2 weeks by now, hopefully the plane could be found soon!

16th Jobstreet.com MCTF’14 Career Fair is back!

Well, if you're keen in looking for a  job, do drop by at Mid Valley Exhibition Hall.

Date: 7th – 9th March 2014
Day: Friday – Sunday
Time: 10.00am – 7.00pm

This would be my 1st time attending a job fair as an interviewer, and I can't wait to meet the on-job-seekers who will be visiting our booth ;-)

On another note, i m hoping that my "claim" for the incentive trip to Shanghai would passed the Vendor approval, and eventually proceed to Visa application/approval. Fingers crossed! This is so OuT oF ExPeCtaTi0N coz i never tot of getting a reward as such, jst bcoz my boss isn't able to attend it. Is sort of like winning a trip in a prize draw! although this isn't a prize draw at all.
Well, the vendor is bearing all cost of accommodation, flight and expenses/per diem for almost a week! Imagine how excited this could be.

The Loaf, Nu Sentral
