I reheated the porridge and made some guava cordial drink to go with it....
there goes my lonesome meal...

i like these economical breads from Tesco...RM2.50 that can stuffed u til full!
the 'coloring' is scary...but i only hav these once in a while...

Tuesday Lunch - Shogun2U

This is one of the lunchbox (bento) order from Shogun2U. It was on 50% discount with online order using Citibank credit card.
The below is sweet & sour fish rice set which comes with potato wedges in mixed beans...
nothing to shout about....the fish chunks are overly 'floured' and i felt like eating fried flour. Not gonna order this next time.

Old Town White Coffee, Sri Petaling

It has been a year since i last dined in Old Town...and i missed their ais kacang.
So this time i purposely drop by to savor my fav ais kacang...just for RM3!
well, the usual price is RM5 something, but if you order a main meal, u r eligible to top-up RM3 for ais kacang...so there goes our main meal...
Hainanese fish rice
that piece of dory fish is without bones
i wonder which part of this is Hainanese?
Below: Steam mushroom chicken rice
it was served with blanched bok choy...
the chicken pieces were great...there were no bones in them. Marinated well and tender...I will definitely order these again.
BON APPETIT!

Buddies Bistro, IOI City Mall

This place looks kinda dark...and secluded
it is facing the stretch of alfresco style dining area in IOI city mall...
And is obviously a pub/bistro
 quiet during daytime....
but it has set lunch offer on its menu with reasonable price!
u can order beer to go with ur meal...but well, it's just too early for a beer session at noon!
we ordered the set meal - RM16.80 (excludes service charges + GST)
for starter u can have either salads...
 or soup of the day
i ordered soup of the day + iced lemon tea
as for the mains - here's my smoked duck with pilaf rice
the smoked duck was very well marinated and flavorful but oily...
tender and succulent duck meat....superbly delicious!
BON APPETIT!

Banana Leaf Rice @ Legend's Claypot Briyani House

A colleague brought us to this place in Serdang. The restaurant is air-conditioned and unlike any typical banana leaf rice place where the waiter would serve the dishes from the pot. This is more like a modern fast-food concept where all the side dishes are pre-cooked and ready in small metal tray with fixed amount. Each combo has its own classification such as Briyani Rice special, ordinary, etc (depending on selection of vegetarian/chicken/mutton/fish/combination of different selection etc).
I ordered a 'default' Briyani Rice on banana leaves, which is almost vegetarian that comes with a bowl of dhal gravy on the side. That gravy has chunks of meat (I tink is chicken) but is very minimal.
pricewise is considered cheap for a banana leaf meal as this is not a typical banana leaf restaurant where u can request for various types of curry gravy or veggies toppings. Despite being a fully Indian restaurant, it lacks the ambience due to its modernized concept (where u order from menu) and the staffs are not the typical friendly 'ah neh' that scoops the dishes to ur 'plate'. Anyhow, i'd say this place is sort of 'beginners ground' or 'introduction' place if u wanna taste the Indian cuisine for the first time coz the menu has an elaborated description and pictures of the dishes.

Black Canyon, IOI City Mall

We were indecisive this time....My colleague wanted to have soupy meal meanwhile i opted for rice...hence we went to this place as it seems to be serving Asian food - well, it's Thai.
we went searching around and passed-by a pool in IOI city....most of the eatery/restaurants were still crowded despite almost 2pm...
we quickly grab a table and start ordering...service was darn slow due to shortage of staffs.
 the menu looks good....
 and promising....
i ordered Set A which is RM12.90 (exclude service charges + GST). The set meal comes with a mini Tom Yum soup...
Can you guess what is this?

it's green curry chicken rice set...
well, it doesn't look 'green' at all!
Tastewise, so-so only. I would rather order the green curry rice set from the nearby foodcourt.

Tenka by Bentoya, IOI City Mall

It was Ramadan back then...most of the halal F&B outlets were near-to-empty and service could be fast since there is less patron...but despite that, all of us (the lunch gang) wanted something non-halal...So we went to this Japanese restaurant specializes in ramen.
i ordered Kakuni ramen, sort of pork ramen...
Tastewise superb and very porky broth! The quality comparable to Goku Raku ramen, with springy noodles and flavorful broth.
They do serve bento rice meal in case u r not into ramen.

myBurgerLab

Have been longin' to try out myBurgerLab since it opened its outlet in OUG few years back.
But each time I passed by it would rather be crowded, seemingly this place only operates from 6pm onwards.
It is still a craze, but the crowds no longer as huge as before. So, I guess it's time for me to drop by...
Went there at almost 7pm. There was a small queue in front of the shop. The order counter is located rite in front of the entrance and that's the sole counter that takes your order. No wonder the queue can easily formed until outside coz there is not much space to queue once u get in from their entrance. There is no proper signboard with picture of the burgers unlike those fast-food chain (where u gotta see huge burger pics displayed at counters). If u r a first-timer, u might be lost coz u only get to read the menu on the 'notice board' which is rite next to the ordering counter/cashier. And u gotta read thru the entire list which is full of words + decide fast while the cashier is standing there waiting for ur order.
well, the below picture says it all!
Anyhow, I snapped the menu just in case I would visit for a second time and can pre-decide on what to order next (see topmost pic). Upon ordering u'l be given a waiting number as the kitchen prepares ur burger.
The dining place was fully occupied by the time I seated for my meal.
the burger was served from the kitchen, freshly prepared.
u can get a selection of sauces from a counter located nearby the kitchen. That's the place where u fill-up the drinks too (self-service).
Colorful?
I ordered an 'A+' burger which comprises of seared beef patty with sharp cheddar, caramelised onions, shiitake mushroom & enoki mushrooms.
tastewise so-so, perhaps this is an 'entry-level' burger...I should have order the 'beautiful mess' burger next time.

Last day of Syawal

Today is Syawal 29th, which eventually marks the final day of Raya. While I dun directly celebrate it, and the neighbourhood that I'm staying is mostly predominantly Chinese, but somehow there's still some lil' festive atmosphere as in this neighbourhood shopping mall.
This mall is mostly 'dead', judging from the number of vacant lots. Nevertheless, the hanging ketupats revived the raya ambience.

Tea Garden - Part 2

It has been almost a year since I last went to Tea Garden. My previous visit didn't give me a good impression about this place due to the lousy & slow service. But ever since I came across it again in Mun's blog, it got me thinking of giving this place a 2nd chance...
There I go...on a fine evening for my early dinner (it was actually lunch + dinner).
Here's my order: Nasi Lemak Beef Rendang and split mung bean soup. I requested for a cup of ice to add into the mung bean soup in case that dessert soup is too sweet.
My verdict: The rice is fragrant of santan (coconut milk) but I prefer the rice from Old Town with a hint of turmeric. The beef rendang is better than Poppo Canteen as it is not on the sweet side. The sambal paste is ok, quite common and not distinct. The 'gem' of this plate of rice is the acar (pickles)...which I hope they can give a more generous portion ;-)
As for the mung bean soup, it reminds me of those that I had during my childhood. Very authentic despite being a simple sweet soup.
There I was seated under this ol' skool lamp @ table no.2
It was a quick meal as the waiting time wasn't long (due to non-peak hour).
My early dinner (cum late lunch) wouldn't complete with this ice-cream sundae from the opposite McD.
Yes, I claimed this for free!
thanks to DigiReward....
slurrrppp!!!!!

The Loaf, Nu Sentral
