It has been a year since i last dined in Old Town...and i missed their ais kacang.
So this time i purposely drop by to savor my fav ais kacang...just for RM3!
well, the usual price is RM5 something, but if you order a main meal, u r eligible to top-up RM3 for ais kacang...so there goes our main meal...
Hainanese fish rice
that piece of dory fish is without bones
that piece of dory fish is without bones
i wonder which part of this is Hainanese?
Below: Steam mushroom chicken rice
it was served with blanched bok choy...
the chicken pieces were great...there were no bones in them. Marinated well and tender...I will definitely order these again.
BON APPETIT!

Hahahaha, I was going to ask how come 3 when I bought it at 5 last time and then only I read on and found out that it is because it is an add-on item. How much are the main meals? Long time I did not eat at Old Town in Sri Petaling.
When I lived in Taman Desa, I used to frequent this outlet which was the biggest one in Klang Valley. Still a popular hangout today.
It is supposed to be Hainanese chicken chop gravy, but with fish instead. Seems like they become stingy and omit those frozen mixed veggie bit.
I do not like OldTown's ais kacang. Maybe it is just Penang, but they go very heavy with the gula melaka here, making the whole thing crazy sweet. But Penangites seem to love it. >.<
Mun: the main meal price varies based on the food item, the one in the picture is about RM14-16...can't remember the actual price as both have different prices. The top-up offer applicable to all main meal (all sorts of noodles, nasi lemak, western, etc).
Twilight Man: biggest in Klang Valley? I thought I have seen some bigger ones elsewhere...in KL/PJ area.
RealGunners: the Old Town ais kacang that I have tasted so far doesn't overload with gula Melaka. In fact, Poppo Canteen one is much worse...
Oh my! Ais kacang looks really good! So cheap too, RM3 only.
I am not sure the other outlet, but the one near my house is really bad. Both food and service is equally bad. I had a friend told me she ordered asam laksa but they actually add the canned sardin for the dish.
suituapui: the ais kacang so-so oni...but nice on a hot day ;-)
Yee Ling: I haven't try asam laksa in Old Town yet. But I tink it could vary from outlet to outlet...the service here is ok, but also depends on the timing (off peak hours).
Heh.. heh... I mentioned it was the biggest one at that time. I think there are bigger outlets now. My friend who was in the F&B told me so.
