Club Med Cherating - Dinner (Day 2)

Dinner was served at the same cafeteria in buffet style, from 7pm to 9:30pm. Late diner (who can't make it by 9:30pm) can opt to dine-in at their noodle bar which is a smaller eatery located next to the cafeteria.
Anyway, i would usually had my dinner at 8pm plus to avoid the dine-in crowd and also coz i wasn't hungry yet at 7 (due to the heavy breakfast and lunch earlier).
The dishes served were almost the same as lunch with various cuisine sections such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Indian, and Western. There are also Salads & Fruits bar, Cold Meat section (serving cold meats such as ham), Desserts section (serving all sorts of cakes, custards, desserts, waffles and ice-cream)...Abundance food to choose!
Here's my plate of fried noodles, curry chicken, chicken nuggets, potato wedges, and some greens.
I also had a portion of raw salmon and tuna rice from the Japanese section.
Can't stomach so much food, but i still wanted to try their chocolate cake & cupcake.
*The fruits are for digestion purpose only...
After the heavy meal...i went for a show and later checked on the next day itinerary.
'The Reef' which is a 30 minutes stage show comprises of modern dances, some stunts and variety action which is family-friendly.
Here's the 'next day' itinerary that is posted in their bulletin board on every evening (so that the residents can plan ahead on which program to join). Club Med has several organised daily activities and residents are free to join as they wished.

Foodpanda Delivery - Simple Garden Cafe & Dim Sum House

Simple Garden Cafe
I was browsing on Foodpanda and discovered some new restaurants in the recommended list.
Browsed on the menu at one random cafe and saw 'lei cha (thunder tea rice)' in the list. So, i ordered one to try.
To qualify for the 'Hightea' evoucher, i need to reach a target of RM21 total purchase.
hence, i have to add-on another item - Cantonese yinyong noodles.
It came with lotsa gravy and it was super thick.
So we divided into 2 bowls and kept one in the fridge (to eat with rice on the following day)
Simple Garden Cafe is a vegetarian eatery, hence u don't expect any meat nor prawns in the yinyong gravy. The ingredients are mostly Shimeji mushrooms, black fungus, veggies, carrots....
Total price for both items is RM12.15nett (inclusive of delivery)...definitely a good deal!

Dim Sum House
On the same day, I also ordered a sweet & sour pork rice and 3 pieces of stuffed bitter gourds for our dinner.
The rice was packed in a partitioned box so that the pork dish and the rice does not mixed.
My mum scooped them onto the plate for reheating purpose.
The pork was tender and not overcoated with flour, hence suitable for my elderlies.
Meanwhile the stuffed bitter gourds were just OK, nothing to shout about, but overall a good meal๐Ÿ˜
Total price for the above is RM15.31 (inclusive of delivery).
Quite a good deal too coz the sweet & sour pork rice set came with a drink.
BON APPETIT!

Club Med Cherating - Lunch (Day 2)

 Remember this?
5 months have passed since this enjoyable trip....
Let me revive back some bit and pieces about the Cherating trip...
here's the continuation of my previous post
==========
After a 'sunbath' in the middle of the field under the cloudy weather, soon it was time for lunch.
I headed to the same cafeteria (as the morning breakfast) and helped myself with the buffet spread.
dun be fooled by this table setting (which got you thinking that there were 2 people dining)
It was just me and all the foods on the table were strictly mine๐Ÿ˜‚
And despite sitting next to the pool and expecting some nice view of macho guy in swim trunks, the restaurant and the pool were quiet as not many people swim nor taking lunch at noon.
Where did everyone go?
Most of my colleagues were busy with various outdoor activities at the other side of the beach such as rock climbing, some beach activities, surfing etc...
Hence, i got to enjoy my peaceful lunch๐Ÿ˜‹
i had....
yes....Italian platter of pizza, bolognaise spaghetti and creamy carbonara macaroni
I also had....
Japanese cold noodles with lotsa seaweed (as I wished!)
and....
kakiage
the child in me wanted to have chicken nuggets, sausages, burger patty and fries....
well...my childhood wish granted! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
that's for my lunch...
all sorts of junks, ain't it?
After the lunch, i had more 'lazy' strolls to burn off the calories....
By evening, i took the tram to the other side of the beach...coz i wanted to visit the Zen Pool...
While at the Zen Pool, i ordered another drink...
and enjoyed the sunset by the beach
but, it was cloudy
and the beach is quieter coz swimming is not allowed due to high tide
definitely a much peaceful beach in Cherating, compared to the one in Club Med Nusa Dua (Bali)
probably due to lacking of foreign tourists, but i felt that the Cherating Club Med is less grandeur compared to the Bali one, as this is a scale down version.
Anyway, i will continue to post more about this place, hopefully to be completed before my next holiday trip....

psstt...another trip is coming soon, organised by the event committee

Tealive Roasted Milk Tea

It has been several years since my last milk tea....and i have totally forgotten on how it tastes like...
One day, i passed by the neighbourhood Tealive shop, and made an impromptu order....
Ordered a regular milk tea with grass jelly....
The price has definitely increased over the years....
i remembered that it was somewhere RM5.90++ during the last time i purchased it...
but now it is....
RM7.30
Tastes ordinary, nothing to shout about though i enjoyed eating the grass jelly
Anyway, it will be some time (or years) before my next milk tea again...
I also bought my fav walnut choc chip cake from the TK bakery...The price remains the same as last year (RM14.80).
I like the crunch from walnut and the chocolatey choc chip...will definitely buy this again!
meanwhile, here's my WFH teatime...Oreo, Chipsmore Choc Chip and Luxury biscuits....
The 'Luxury Cereal & Chia Seed' packaging has changed since my last review. This packaging definitely looks better and attractive๐Ÿ˜€

Hanoi Kitchen @ Sri Petaling

This eatery place has just recently opened in the neighbourhood newest building, the Pinnacle
serving all sorts of Vietnamese cuisine, from rice to noodles and light snacks
located next to the 'Beer Bank' bistro, the Hanoi Kitchen is quite happening with people having supper after some drinking session...as it opens till midnite.
the colorful lanterns caught my attention from the entrance
right next to the entrance there is a rack displaying/selling Vietnamese F&B products such as coffee, noodles, vermicelli, sauces and drinks.
at the other side, is a colorful wall painting, quite an impressive interior!
the painter must have spent alot of time to paint this lady portrait...
now...back to the food...
here's what i've ordered
Tom yum pork leg noodles...
Very light tom yum taste, and overpowered by the strong porky taste, hence it tastes more like pork noodles than tom yum.
Nevertheless it has lotsa ingredients, such as pork balls, pork slices, some sort of ngor hiang (Vietnamese version), and....well, pork legs.
The noodles is served with a plate of beansprouts.
The sauces/condiments are placed at the centralised condiments station.
There are various types of chili sauces, chili oil/flakes, sri racha sauce, pickled chili, bird's eye chili, soy sauce, fish sauce, etc. Self-service basis (similar practice as those condiments station in hotpot shop).
Overall, food is moderate, but it's unwise to judge based on just a bowl of noodles (that i ordered above). I would try out other items on next time and give my fair judgement.
Ambience-wise, excellent...it has sort of Hanoi/Saigon-like atmosphere coz it is located at the busy nightlife area surrounded by KTV & bars, very much like those in Hanoi/Saigon.
Here's the colorful lights coming from the opposite shoplots
Hanoi Kitchen is strategically located & visible from the main road
Total damage for this meal is RM22.90 nett inclusive of a plain water and service/SST charges.

BananaBro @ Sri Petaling

My last banana leaf meal was sometime end of 2020 during the ease of lockdown, before it MCO again the following months.
That would probably almost 1.5 years ago...hence this round i made up for the 'loss'...I had a feast!
kinda overordered coz i wanted to try out every dish in this outlet...
I had Gobi65 (RM6.90) which is sort of deep fried cauliflower coated in spices. This portion is good for sharing, though i can wallop all by myself๐Ÿ˜€
i also craved for chicken varuval (RM7.90)
Heavily spiced and cooked with lotsa dried chilies and soaked in oil....It doesn't taste as spicy when eat but the after-effect comes after that....*stomachache the following day~
but this dish was a good one! i don't mind ordering it again the next time (despite the aftermath)
I had a huge portion of everything from the side dishes to the rice and papadam!
The basic banana leaf rice meal (RM8.90) consists of only 3 veggie dishes - Jeera Aloo (spiced potatoes), cucumber salad and deep fried bitter gourd. You can request for refill even on papadam and rice/curries.
As for the curry gravy, i opted for all! so it is a mix of chicken curry, fish curry, dhal and crab curry gravy๐Ÿ˜
how greedy i m!
this meal lasted the whole day...it was my lunch cum dinner
total damage is RM27.50 nett (after 10% service charge and 6% SST)
a satisfying meal and i will definitely be coming here again.

Sopoong @ IOI City Mall, Putrajaya

Went out for lunch with colleague during one of my 'work-from-office' day...
It has been ages since my last Korean meal, so we went to Sopoong to try out their affordable set meals.
I ordered the udon + gimbap set meal which comes with a pot of udon in plain soup. It has seaweed, a few pieces of surimi sticks, fish cakes and oyster mushrooms. Quite bland as the soup is plain with some umami taste from the seaweed and fish cakes.
Luckily there are 7 pieces of gimbap that comes with the set....The gimbaps are flavorful (coz of the seaweed paper that wrapped around it). So contented after eating this!
as usual, some banchan with the main....
cucumber kimchi, napa cabbage kimchi and plain cabbage...
*sort of vegetarian
this meal costs RM19.90 ++
or RM23 nett inclusive of tax and service charges.
Just another decent meal that fills up my hungry stomach....but well, at least i dun have to wait long coz this shop is quite empty during the peak lunch hour.

HJ Seafood Restaurant, Kuchai Lama

First time dining in this restaurant. Paid RM100 per pax for the set lunch. Here's the menu.  It was for an event. Food was just so-so.....
