Rotiboy Bun

My first taste of 'Rotiboy' Mexican coffee bun was back in 2004 when my then campus roommate bought extra and gave me one.
I immediately fell in love with it...it was so so so full of coffee + buttery taste that kept me wanting for more....Yes, it was that addictive!
And back then the queue at Rotiboy Mid Valley was super long...that explains how good it was!
All the while i thought it is a Malaysian franchise...i wonder why the domain is registered as SG?? (did they move base to SG?)
the price back then (in 2004) was RM1.50 per bun...now it is RM2.80 and the size has shrunk so much~~~
that's why it live up to its slogan 'One is never enough'....coz the bun is just too small...LOL!
Also, instead of a customized paper bag with the shop name, many years ago they used a plain brown paper bag like this....
(*unrelated to the above) btw, this paper bag has something else inside...
guess what?
yes, it is lekor!
and vadai!
Bought 3 pieces of lekor for RM1 + 3 pieces of vadai for RM2 from a roadside stall
Both are my fav goreng goreng snacks
There goes my teatime!😁

CNY Snacks

As usual, my fav is always our homemade ngaku chips!
This is a very exclusive chips coz we only fried 2 canister for this year. One is given to sis & BIL, so only left a canister for us.
second fav is the pineapple tarts...mom bought a canister from a shop in Petaling street. It has been ages since i last went there, am totally clueless about the shops in Petaling street...
kuih kapit....ok la...taste just so-so but it is a must on every CNY!
cornflakes cookies - buttery and have crunchy cornflakes in each piece
choco chip cookies - taste like butter cookies but with chocolate chips...quite nice too.
we also bought bakkwa, mostly eat with bread as sandwich.
So, what do u have for CNY?

Various Foodpanda Deliveries

This is a compilation of various Foodpanda orders during the past weeks.
During CNY chor2, we did not cook and hence ordered some fast food for lunch.
5 pieces of A&W spicy fried chicken
guess how much?
after deducted the voucher, I only paid RM15.16 for these fried chicken, meaning each piece is only around RM3! such a good deal!
With the 'extraong' voucher, i manage to get a good price for this Hawaiian pizza too
This pizza from Brew House is only RM12.05!
On another day, I had a combo meal from A&W
I got a Mozza burger, a piece of fried chicken and a large fries, all for only RM11.49!
I opted for fries (instead of the mashed potato) coz i wanted to try out their fries.
yes, the price after the 'extraong' voucher is cheaper than dine-in/ in-store purchase.
I also took the opportunity to order half roasted chicken from the Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice shop...I have blogged about their roasted chicken in my previous post. The price for the half roasted chicken is only RM16.09 after apply the voucher. So worth it!
Meanwhile, sometime last year, I tried out the 'Quattro pizza (beef)' from Domino's Pizza using the 'Pandastar' voucher. After deducted the voucher, the price for a large pizza is only RM24. This pizza is segmented into 4 quarters of different flavours - a quarter of prawn, a quarter of mushroom, a quarter of beef pepperoni, and a quarter of Hawaiian chicken.
My favorite is the Hawaiian chicken as the chicken chunks are well marinated. My second fav is the prawn, followed by the mushroom and lastly beef pepperoni.
my mum likes this pizza so much that she keeps requesting for it whenever we wanted to order a fast food delivery.

3rd Lousang - with Family @ Icon Kitchen, Bukit Jalil

On the 2nd day of CNY, sis & BIL join us for dinner and we had our CNY dine-out @ Icon Kitchen Bukit Jalil
She ordered a small portion of salmon yeesang (RM48)
This would be my 3rd lousang of the year
Sweet & sour fish fillet (RM28)
Claypot tofu (RM17)

Cereal deep fried squid (RM28)
and
Steamed salted chicken (RM50)
As usual the dishes were alright and we don't get thirsty after the meal (unlike previously).
My fav is still cereal deep fried squid with its bouncy and chewy texture.
The salted chicken was not that salty but more towards herbal taste, the gravy taste like herbal chicken soup!
Overall a satisfying meal.
Total price for this meal is RM183.40 ++ with rice and drinks for 5 pax.
After applying 5% Service Charge + 6 % Service Tax, the price is RM203.55 nett.
BON APPETIT!

2nd Lousang - with Colleagues @ Xiaolongkan, Mid Valley

The week when we received our bonus, my colleague had booked a table for our 'sau gong' dinner, sort of get-together and to 'celebrate our bonus'😀
I just agreed to join without knowing they are planning for a hotpot (steamboat) meal.
The restaurant is an established Chinese Hotpot franchise from China, someting like Haidilao.
We booked a private room for the 8 of us.
The place is designed like an ancient Chinese shop. Even the ceiling is exquisitely decorated!
we started our meal with....
YEESANG!
this time with salmons....
after then, more starters while we waited for the soups to get heated
Deep fried chicken strips
Deep fried crunchy fish skin
Here's the soup base
3 different flavours - Mala, Tomato and Herbal
and loads of meats...
slices of pork
beef
more pork....
to balance out the meatiness, we also ordered assorted mushrooms
beancurd skin
i think this is jicama
and more veggies (lotus roots, tomatoes, lettuces)
just dump everything into the hotpot
the herbal soup is my fav and mala is the least.
The mala soup is definitely spicy and numbs the tongue...Never ever attempt to drink!
The private room has racks to place the foods that we ordered.
We ordered so much that it needs 3 racks to standby.
more meats, meatballs, some kind of seafood, abalone etc
we eat till food coma!
This meal costs us RM951.20nett inclusive of tax & service charges.
Hence per person is RM118.90.
Definitely over-ordered and overeat😐
After this meal, no more hotpot for me...
Spent almost an hour plus to finish up everything, after then I went for a short stroll at Mid Valley mall.
The decoration for this year is......all red.
By now, all the malls seems the same to me, couldn't differentiate already, coz mostly are red lanterns, bamboos, lion heads, tiger statues, some red kiosks...etc etc

1st Lousang - with Colleagues @ Office 'Sau Gong' Dinner

Last year the company did not have a 'sau gong' dinner due to the lockdown. Hence, this year the event committee organised a 'lavish' (but still complied to SOP) dinner in the office.
We need to registered ourselves in order to participate. This is also to estimate the headcount and to prepare the space for the event.
More than half of the company staffs participate, hence the committee bought aplenty of yeesangs and arranged them on separate tables with each table having a limit number of participants.
before we start to 'toss the yeesang', we must wear face mask and sanitise our hands.
Ready....get set....GO! LOU!
bigger bonus, bigger increement, more business, good health, good wealth, less nonsense, bla blah....
Meanwhile, outside the building, the caterers were busy preparing satays...some people mentioned that we have ordered 1000 sticks!
and slightly before 7pm, foods were ready!
abundance of food....
Deep fried sotong
Cereal prawns
Fried chicken wings & drummets
Sweet & sour fish fillets
Assorted veggies
Assam pedas sotong
Stuffed taupok
Ayam masak hitam
Fried meehoon
Fried rice
there were lots more not in the picture - roasted duck, steamed dimsum, deep fried sweet potato balls, deep fried popiah and samosas, assorted kuihs, fruits and ais kacang
but my 'heart' goes to satay!
warm freshly grilled satays....with peanut sauce and cucumbers/onions
here's my plate...
and my main meal of everything - so 'rojak'!
i had food coma after that....
BON APPETIT!

HJ Seafood Restaurant, Kuchai Lama

First time dining in this restaurant. Paid RM100 per pax for the set lunch. Here's the menu.  It was for an event. Food was just so-so.....
