Day 3 Breakfast @ Hard Rock Hotel, Penang

Day 3 is the final day of my hotel stay....by now i've tried most of the food served in breakfast, though some dishes rotate daily.
Here's my first round...
From the local section, i had fried meehoon, fried rice, tofu, and curry mutton
and as usual, their nasi lemak....it was delicious despite the spicy sambal
i standby with glasses of water and juices
2nd round.....
prawn noodles....it was spicy coz of the chili flakes...this one is damn good too!
dim sum and currypuff
Overall food option is better than Club Med (Cherating)....but can't compare apple-to-apple...coz is a different player....perhaps I shall compare it with the Hard Rock in Bali.
Dining ambience i would prefer Hard Rock Bali as it is more spacious though you can't find Malaysian food like nasi lemak, fried kuey teow or prawn noodles over there...
But nevertheless, both have standard breakfast stuffs such as cereals, toasts, fruits & pancakes (in case you are not into local/regional cuisines).
~~~~~~
After the breakfast, it's time to check out....
Well, i will miss this hotel very much....particularly their cool bar at the pool...yea, if you are staying at the ground floor (having direct access to the pool from the room), you can actually swim from your room to this bar located in the middle of the pool.
Here are some of the views i took from my room (on different time & days)
nice evening weather throughout my stay (except that it was hot during the day)
sunset - the purple-ish sky
till then, ciao!
Last Month's Office "Makan Makan"
The office 'makan makan' resumes after a few months of quiet period. It was held at the office pantry (again) right after the staff meeting. Whenever there is a staff meeting, it would mean that the appraisal is coming soon😑
The food were all catered. Despite that, it was less extravagant compared to the previous one (held in Jan), coz there was no "1000 sticks satays"...and the number of dishes was far more lesser (by half) compared to that one. Well, smaller scale would be better as to prevent food wastage. But quality-wise and taste-wise, I would prefer the previous caterer.
The desserts were OK...I had a bowl of ais kacang (the kacang and ingredients were hidden beneath the shaved ice) and some local kuihs and fruits.
There were about 10 main dishes served at the buffet line, so it was quite a hearty meal if tried out all the dishes + desserts.
On another day, during one of my visit to McD, i saw these tempting looking cakes at the McD Cafe counter.
So tempting that i couldn't resist!
Bought the Belgian Choc Cake and Pandan Gula Melaka Cake.
The Belgian Choc cake easily melt when left at room temperature, thus need to put into the fridge ASAP.
Pandan Gula Melaka cake was sweet and aromatic. Similar to onde onde but in 'cake form'.
These cakes were sourced from Secret Recipe, hence the price is almost like Secret Recipe too. There is also Classic Cheesecakes which i did not try coz i can get the same from Secret Recipe.
BON APPETIT!
Day 2 Breakfast @ Hard Rock Hotel, Penang
Day 2, i was getting more ambitious to try out as many foods from the breakfast buffet compared to the previous day.
Here's my first round...
I had fried kuey teow, fried rice (nasi goreng kampung), assorted veggies...all in one plate
Followed by plain porridge but with generous condiments...spring onions, youtiao & black bean salted dace.
Then, the nasi lemak again. This time the nasi lemak is wrapped...
and it looked so tempting with the coconut rice drenched in fiery red sambal😋
Here's my second round....
Tom yum flat rice noodles from the noodles section
Roti canai with curry dhal from their 'roti/prata' section
and finished off with omelette and hash browns...
after the heavy breakfast, went for a stroll at the beach to burn off calories...which is located just right behind the hotel building, nearby the hotel's pool.
The beach is a public area, hence gotta exit through the gate (which is guarded by the hotel security guard). The gate is closed by evening.
Some water sport activities goin on...There is a kiosk nearby offering water sport activities with an affordable price...too bad, the day was too hot & sunny for such activities.
Better to hide under the hut and enjoy the view with a good book.
cloudless & hot weather under the scorching sun....
when the day gets hotter....i went back to the room for aircond and enjoyed a can of apple cider!
Day 1 Breakfast @ Hard Rock Hotel, Penang
The variety of foods served in Hard Rock Hotel's breakfast is extravagant...much more choices than Club Med (Cherating).
Buffet breakfast starts from 6:30 till 10 (or 10:30...can't remember)...Anyway, to avoid the crowds and long queue, better to go around 7-8.
I usually went down around 7:30, and the queue was already forming due to the limitation of seats inside (back then SOP were still in place).
The patrons were not allowed to self-service, but instead wait for the staff to serve at the counter. Just tell/point/signal to them on the food that we want and they will serve us at the counter. Sometimes it could be a hassle to wait for the staff to attend to us, coz they could be 'absent' from the counter/while settled other things.
Here's my lavish breakfast...
Started off with local food - Fried rice, fried noodles, some stir fried green leafy and minced chicken.
Then followed by western - potato wedges, sunny side up eggs, sausages and ham
this one no need intro.....the sambal is superbly spicy...nevertheless it was good!
from the Chinese section - dim sum! i mean halal ones
from the Indian section - aloo goobi, samosa and deep fried spring roll (not quite Indian cuisine...hmmm)
that's all for my first day breakfast....
BON APPETIT!
Company Dinner @ Hard Rock Cafe, Penang
Now, this is the real Company Dinner...
the buffet dinner held the day before was just a preliminary...LOL!
The theme this year is 'Back to School'
but, nope, i did not dress as a school girl nor as a teacher...
not into these kind of costume play...
as a foodie my focus is on...ahemmm.....FOOD!
but before that...let me tour you around the 'cafe'...
Like any other Hard Rock Cafe, it definitely will have some display of items belonging to 'stars'...it could be a hat, weird concert costume or even guitar used during a concert.
I was seated at this long table next to the bar.
As we had our ESCAPE park challenge earlier that day, we received our participation cert during the evening (didn't expect that!)
the mini stage in Hard Rock Cafe
now....to the food...
Starters: Cheese nachos
Starters: Broccoli soup with garlic bread
Mains: New York Strip Steak medium rare
halfway eating....a cut across the slab of meat...yea...it is pinkish!
my final bite...with blood oozing out...*vampire mode on
just as i thought that our meal has completed...the below was served!
some sort of light snack platter(?) consists of buffalo chicken wings, deep fried calamary, deep fried breaded chicken breast, some spring rolls etc...
and lastly we have desserts...chocolate brownie with vanilla ice-cream!
I also ordered a glass of cocktails...this was so refreshing after the heavy meal!
some rock band to entertain us that evening...
we had a jolly good time with various pop/rock songs....
Sushi Zanmai again...
Each time when i craved for Japanese curry rice, I would either go to Yoshinoya or Sushi Zanmai for its affordable price.
But ever since Yoshinoya called it a day during the MCO time, i only left with Sushi Zanmai....so here it is...
chicken katsu curry rice....
There were no carrots nor potato cubes in the curry, so it was quite plain.
i also ordered a plate of prawn tempuras...
It has 4 pieces per set.
The prawn tempuras were fresh & crunchy...just good enuff  to satisfy my cravings fix.
Total damage for this meal is RM30.60nett (inclusive of tax and service charges).
Office Lunches in BVI
These are muffins from Spain, definitely not related to pig. Bought them in one of the supermarkets in Road Town for my breakfast. [Below] M...
