Chicken Leg

I was involved in the company audit on last week and lunch was provided for that 2 consecutive days. The office admin was kind enough to drive out and bought lunches for those who were involved in the audit including the external auditors.
Monday:
Dave's Deli Roasted Chicken - with side dishes of mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and mixed veggie (sweet potatoes, cherry tomatoes, capsicum). Mushroom sauce is provided for the chicken leg.
Tuesday:
Nasi Lemak Ayam Berempah from 'Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock' restaurant.
The spiced chicken leg is so well-marinated with tender chicken meat....yummz!
The sambal is packed separately in a small plastic sachet. For those who can't eat spicy food, they can omit that sachet.
BON APPETIT!

From the Nasi Campur Stall....

This was my lunch in the office some weeks ago, which I tapao-ed from the nearby Malay nasi campur (mixed rice) stall. There are a few stalls that resumed operation since late June, hence I got a few choices.
It has been quite some time since I last had nasi lemak (my last was before MCO)...so imagine the craving for it....
My first taste of nasi lemak post-MCO...
I added a 'begedil' (Indonesian potato patty) into it...Hence this pack of rice is RM3. The 'begedil' itself is only RM1.
The following day, I had a full carb meal of rice, nuggets, begedil (again~~), and sunny side up egg. Very high carb to last me till dinner!
This is jst for RM3.50~~
el cheapo meal...

KFC Fill Up is Back!

KFC 'Fill Up' is back and the price is still the same @RM8.90 each!
In case u have no idea on what is that....The 'Fill Up' is a set meal consists of 1 piece chicken, 4 nuggets, 1 small coleslaw, 1 small mashed potato and a drink....
Very 'berbaloi' at RM8.90...
so here goes the family weekend dinner - bought 3 sets to eat with rice :-) yea, we are so Asian!
Meanwhile, I have a new 'snack' at home to replace the 'finished jar of peanuts'....
This time it is a healthier kacang parang (broad bean), and less fattening than the peanuts....
Picture below: On the right is our homemade agar-agar.
Rainy days and the veggies growing fast. We harvested a new batch of sweet potato leaves from the garden....

Watches

Stranger: May I know what is the time now?
Me: ermm….6:19....nope 6:14
 Do you wear a watch?
I did but that was a long time ago, during my student years.
I have some cheapskate watches which I wear to school and most of them are easily 'kaputt'
It was adjusted to 5 minutes earlier than the actual time, hence during the exam time, it would gave me the perception that I don't have much time left to finish off the answers when I still have 5 minutes left.
Anyway, the remaining time is used as a buffer to 'final check' my answer sheet.
After having a handphone, I no longer wear a watch coz I felt uneasy having something tied to my wrist, especially when the weather is hot and my wrist is sticky from the sweat.
Besides, I felt that wearing one attracts unwanted attention, coz someone would pretend to ask me for time and open up a conversation. This happened during my late teens, where a guy did this and followed me for weeks. Back then I was working part time in a shop.
Now back to these watches....obviously both of these are not mine.
They are of the same brand 'Tissot', on the left belongs to sis, and the right belongs to mum. Both are bought separately on different occasion.
Do you wear watches?

Dine Out 5 & 6

My 5th dine out (after MCO) is at a zhap fan shop in Seri Kembangan. It is a newly opened place which only sells zhap fan (mixed rice) with free refillable soup and Chinese tea. The place is bright, clean and has good ventilation (with aircond and fans). It practices social distancing too with only one third of the tables are taken/occupied. Others are stacked aside or crossed.
There are a lot of dishes available and I was indecisive on what to pick.
Ended up with 2 oink oink dishes and sautéed long beans.
The oink oink dishes are: Hakka pork belly with ear fungus and minced pork.
Clearly, I missed eating pork so much!
My 6th dine out is at KFC Kuchai Lama with my parents. It was our first dine out together coz all the while they have been eating from ta-pao or homecooked food at home.
We had just done with our errands in Taman Desa, hence while on our way back home, stopped by this KFC outlet for lunch.
each patron is given a dine-in card before allowed to get in. We also need to register via My Sejahtera app and have our temperature taken.
The entire restaurant (despite its huge space) can roughly accommodate 10 to 15 tables only after some tables being stacked aside.
Even with that, some seats are crossed within the 'available table', which means the restaurant capacity has reduced by more than 70%
3 of us occupied a '2 combined tables' with alternate seats crossed. These tables can accomodate10 people during the pre-MCO days.
We each have a lunch plate set with drinks at RM15.50 per set.
The chicken size seems to have shrunk coz we remembered that this outlet usually served huge chicken piece.
While passing by the counter when exiting from the side door, we kepoh-kepoh on the other offers/promotions.
This one seems like a valuable set with 8 pcs of chickens and 4 bowls of rice for only RM33.90 nett.

KFry @ IOI City Mall

This is a farewell lunch for a colleague. We went for Korean fried chicken at KFry restaurant coz everyone miss the food there after a few years of not dining there.
As usual there was a queue during lunch time, but our organiser has booked a table, hence the wait is only awhile.
We ordered the below for sharing among 7 of us:
Cheese soy fried chicken (half bird)
Garlic soy fried chicken (half bird) - this one taste good, recommended!
2 trays of cheesy mayo fries
and 2 plates of tuna with seaweed rice balls....
The texture of the rice and the taste is similar to Japanese onigiri just different shape only.
FOC refillable plain water provided in a jug...We did not order any drinks coz they are expensive.
Total bill came up to: RM168 nett (inclusive of service charge & taxes)

Yu Xiang Yuan @ Kuchai Lama

A friend is treating me dinner this time. This would be my 3rd dine out after MCO (or 2nd during RMCO).
We went to a Chinese Sichuan restaurant in Kuchai Entrepreneur Park on a Friday evening after finished working (from home).
Not many people when we reached, around 7:20pm.
The cutleries are sanitised and wrapped.
It was first time of me dining there so my friend did the ordering.
The menu all in Chinese...
and the staffs are from China, speaking very accented Mandarin
 We had:
Stir fried cabbage with bacon and dried chilies
Stir fried mutton with dried chilies
 and spicy fish....
look at the amount of oil and dried chilies they dumped into that tray....so scary~~~
there are some lotus roots, cucumbers, brinjals in this dish apart from a handful of dried chilies
this dish itself costs RM58!
tastewise, I m not acquired to the taste of Sichuan dishes with lotsa chilies and oil....but anyhow good to try for a first timer.
Most dishes are spicy and it is one dimensional, as my tongue feels numb and couldn't taste anything except spiciness after awhile.
Total cost for all the above with drinks and a bowl of rice: RM151
The shop is located in Jalan Kuchai Maju 6 (with red façade from the picture below taken from Google Map)....there are plenty of similar Sichuan/Hunan restaurants around the area.
anyway, my generous friend paid the bill...no damage to my pocket...but my stomach is on fire~~~

Random Updates

Continuation from my updates on IOI Mall Puchong....
I went to the first floor to check out the Food Street
At the entrance, the KFC (left) is still there but Little Penang Café (right) already closed for good.
coming soon - Haidilao hot pot chain restaurant!
Have u been to one before?
I have heard of some 'minor accidents' that happened in its outlets (in China) when the staff did their signature 'noodle dance'...
Further in the Food Street, the BarBQ Plaza has placed mascots (in cardboard form) to prevent the seats from being occupied. I have no idea if this mascot is dragon or dinosaur...
but it definitely looks cute when seeing the restaurant being occupied by these green creatures.
After done my 'marketing' at the mall, I stopped by Ayamas @ Kinrara to buy roasted chicken.
The Ayamas is still having the '15th & 30th offer' with discounted price for whole roaster.
cheaper by a few RMs compared to the normal price...
Three flavors available - Golden (Honey), Pepper and Percik. I like all 3 of them!
If the whole roaster is too much for u, the Ayamas shop also sells half roaster or quarter roaster besides the set menus for take away and delivery.
Meanwhile I m back at craving for burgers, fried chicken and fries...
so I bought this KFC combo (with drink) at RM15.50
This was tapao from a drive thru next to the Besraya highway after work.
BON APPETIT!

Marble Cake from AEON Puchong

A visit to the AEON bakery seems like a bliss after some time of staying home.
seeing colorful cakes brightens up my day
not into thick cream cakes, so I switched my attention to this rack. Plenty of marble cakes, butter cakes, swiss rolls etc of various sizes and shapes (rectangular, squarish, roundish). No fancy shapes of course!
Settled with this marble cake at RM7.
Tastes ordinary but it's fine with me. Just to fill up the tummy when hungry only.
Was thirsty, hence I walked over to the nearby McD
yummy thirst quencher....it is only RM1!
*this is not cappuccino nor latte...and definitely not dalgona coffee...
saw the Hokkaido baked cheese tart kiosk and bought the 'super trio', meaning 3 piece of cheese tarts at discounted price. The price is still the same as last year!

IOI Mall (Puchong) vs IOI City Mall (Putrajaya)

Business are slowly picking up in these malls...here are some snapshots:

IOI Mall, Puchong
Pics were taken on last Tuesday: The 'Hari Raya' decoration were still hanging in the atrium of this mall. Still in festive mood with 'sales' going on, despite the Syawal month already over.
 shoes and bags for sale
huge banner hung from the top floor
and a gigantic board that displays 'Business As Usual for All Outlets'...business is very much alive (despite some are only surviving!)

IOI City Mall, Putrajaya
Meanwhile at the other IOI, the shops are also operating as usual, back to normal especially the eateries/restaurants
here's one promotion in Dragon-I. Looks like a good deal...
I was just passing by on my way to buy bread at Tesco.
Bought 2 Mexican coffee bun for RM1.98. Very worth and taste as good as the original Rotiboy bun.
Then, I went to Lavender to grab my fav walnut butter cake @RM19.90
yummzzz….it has been 3 months++ since I last had this. Tastewise not as good as the one I bought before MCO, tis one has less butter taste but still plenty of walnuts.

Shangri-la Hotel, Orchard Road, SG

Posting some pictures of Shangri-la hotel SG. It is located on Orange Grove Road, just off Orchard Road, in a quieter, more residential area...
