How to Wrap Rice Dumpling (Zongzi)

Duanwu festival is around the corner...and soon we will be feasting on the zongzi!
Throughout my life, i have unwrapped many zongzi but I have never know how to wrap it. This video will serve as a reference (for me) coz this demonstration is much simplified (than the other videos that I had seen)!

Meanwhile here's the Zongzi that I ordered from a colleague...It arrived on today morning and still sitting on my desk while I m typing this!
gonna eat this tonite!

Longing for another getaway...

Mount Agung erupted last Friday and somehow it reminds me that I still have a few more photos that are yet to post...from my previous previous....Bali trip (yea, a lot of previous!)
among the places I went is the turtle sanctuary
some of the food we had...some kind of nasi pulut with fried chicken, soup, tempe and tahu...not so appetising but enough to fill up the hungry stomach
flying fish..it was so crispy...I can even eat the bones
horse carriage ride...nope, I did not try
the hotel that was bombed in 2002...
the most dangerous place is now the safest place to stay as every visitor will have to go through the bomb detector before entering the premise
volcano sight-seeing...back then not many eruption!
we were at a higher ground nearby these volcanoes, hence it was so cooling (like Cameron Highlands) despite the sunny day
I also went cycling at Ubud...along the paddy fields at the hills
 got sunburned...and regretted my decision...lol!
 back to nature trail
 and finally an evening rest
wokay, I can now delete these pictures from my local disk....

Ramadan Buffet Dinner @ Palm Garden Hotel, IOI Resort Putrajaya

Had our team dinner on yesterday. The restaurant was running on a promotion that ends on this week.
The buffet is priced at RM75 nett per person (usual price RM98) hence it is a great deal...
Anyway, since the company is paying...I just eat for free!
I had chicken satays (they have beef satays too, which I did not take), murtabaks, kebabs, lekor, char kuey teow and otak otak...
this plate wasn't mine, but someone who likes kerang (lala) a lot...
my second plate: cheese pasta, yong tau foo, sotong, prawn, curry fish, and black pepper beef
 my third plate: pasembor rojak
Our table of 13 pax....We feasted to the max!
Overall the food was ok, there are hit & miss...
I like their yong tau foo...and another colleague said the curry noodles were good (I was too full to try)…
There were plenty of malay kuihs, ice cream potong and ais kacang which I skipped too...
Bon Appetit

Lunch of Toasts and Mangoes

The company has been encouraging us to eat healthily. We even have a weighting scale in the block.
Fruits are provided on every alternate week (depending on stocks left in the fridge), and recently they introduced breakfast too....
This week we have breakfast of toast and eggs...The office admin bought loaves of wholemeal bread, kaya, jams and a huge tray of eggs. We can opt to do it whatever way we wished - with/without toasting the bread, with/without jam or kaya.
A few sets of egg boilers/steamers were also provided.
I prefer mine to be sunny side up...so I did it via microwave (no worry, it doesn't explode)
there goes my healthy brunch in the office.

Chadolbaegi Doenjang Jjigae (Beef in Soybean Paste Stew)

If u watched K-drama long enuff, u'll surely be tempted to have Korean food (especially the stew and the bbq) coz many times the K-drama would feature dining scenes. It acted so well that even a plain kimchi looks so delicious!
Anyway, to cut the story short, i'm back to my regular place (Mi Na Rae) to get my Korean food fix...
got a window seat with a sunset view
instead of ordering my usual bulgogi, this time I tried chadolbaegi doenjang jjigae (beef in soybean paste stew)…
and yes, it came with 10 banchans (consists of sautéed long beans, mushrooms, caramelised anchovies, mashed potatoes, chili fishcakes, lotus roots, pajeon, beancurd and 2 types of kimchi (napa cabbage and cucumber).
I finished off all the banchans.
and got a refill...but end up couldn't finish the 'refill'
As for the stew, it was just so-so. Perhaps I m not used to taucu (fermented soybean paste) cooked with beef and beancurd. I think I will stick back to my usual bulgogi.
my meal costs RM25.30 after tax and service charge

Char Kuey Teow @ Mega Food Court, OUG

It has been some time since I last dine in a food court...
Went to a food court during the Labour Day to have some fried noodles, but unfortunately the stall was closed.
I was hungry and decided not to venture further...so I ordered a big plate of CKT from the stall next door.
besides CKT, it also sells pan mee, tomyum noodles and some other soup noodles
 here's my plate of CKT+mee (RM7.50)…
Taste ordinary with 3 medium size prawns, few slices of fishcakes...and without cockles.
After the simple dinner, went to the nearby Parkson to window shop and burn-off calories.
Saw some pretty-looking handbags...
but can't decide which looks better...
same goes for this glittering shoes...
which one would u choose?

Restoran Azhaar Maju, Serdang

This mamak place is situated nearby the Serdang KTM station. I went there with colleagues for our lunch as someone was craving for their roti...
There is a selection of roti in their menu (like any other usual mamak)...such as roti canai, roti telur, roti sardine, roti bawang, roti petak, roti pisang, etc...
I wanted to try their cheese naan but unfortunately they said the stove not ready...
Other than that, this place also provides western food (which is just so-so, according to my colleague)
 and Italian cuisine...LOL!
I had beef murtabak at RM6...tastewise so-so only....
It came with sambal, dhal and curry as dipping.
I still prefer the murtabaks sold in Ramadan bazaar with generous minced meat and pickled onions.

Dinner @ Siew Ming Restaurant, Sri Petaling

The parking here is terrible, especially during the weekend evening, nevertheless we still favor this place for dinner.
We had asam tilapia - looks fiery red but not spicy at all
marmite pork ribs - super yummy with pork fats!
minced pork with tofu - flavorful minced pork that goes well with rice
and my fav stir fry sweet potato leaves with fermented beancurd sauce...
a satisfying dinner
Total bill is RM111, inclusive of rice and tea for 5 pax
BON APPETIT!

Shangri-la Hotel, Orchard Road, SG

Posting some pictures of Shangri-la hotel SG. It is located on Orange Grove Road, just off Orchard Road, in a quieter, more residential area...
