Maxims Hotel, Genting Highlands

Beautiful sight....don't u tink so?
Every now & then, i would go up the hill to gamble....lepak!
Well, yours truly is a member of....ahemm....Uncle Lim's empire and occasionally got invited with free rooms/gaming/vouchers.
Anyhow, since i rarely gamble, i only went up to 'claim' my free gift...
and to jalan jalan makan angin.....yes it was windy and cold up there....
and be mesmerised by the mini cooper cars...How i wish i could win this!
The Sky Avenue nowadays has a lot of attraction that is so tempting...
such as...
*drooling over the cakes
and back then it was nearing CNY, hence u get to see lotsa red lanterns and fake cherry blossoms decorating the First World Lobby.
Anyway, during one of my visits, i did not stay at my free First World Hotel 'standard room', but instead 'tumpang' stay at Maxims....
At the check-in lobby, it was decorated with colorful flowers and these are real!
so harmonious
so eye-soothing...
Well, this hotel is tastefully designed, even the corridor is so modern looking
but the rooms are just so-so, it was kinda dark with grey/turquoise interior
in the room, it has a coffee machine with capsules provided, various types of tea and sugar
mini fridge
huge tv screen with multiple channels
i could just sit there and laze in front of tv whole day
the shower area
usual soaps and shampoo
even the basin has 2 water taps
the view from room...
it was cloudy and cold, but i like this view
by nite, i went out clubbing looking at luxurious cars
Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche all lining up the street!
must be some rich brat went clubbing nearby
sexy ladies....shhhhh.....i just pass by only...
it was midnite and people partying like there is no tomoro....and some interesting dances on the stage too!

Johnny Rockets

Sometime last year, we had our team lunch in Johnny Rockets, IOI City Mall
the restaurant is located next to The Symphony lake.
Despite the indoor air-cond place, it was still warm during the afternoon due to the glass wall.
The interior is so retro that brings u back to the 60s
Quite empty during a weekday lunch
The menu
a sneak preview of the menu
Here's my float
and my burger set - huge burger (with bacons), fries and salads
The burger doesn't look impressive here but it was HUGE (similar to Carl's Jr size)
and for sharing, we had onion rings, sweet potato fries & buffalo wings
The online menu is available here.

Sepiring, IOI City Mall

yes, this place is famous for its curry....
if u r craving for curry noodles with thick santan...then this is the place!
they even have the word 'curry' on their slogan!
can u guess what is this?
Hint: u can find the keyword in one of the menu below
since Curry is their core....I tried their curry on my first visit
the ingredients consist of a few pieces 'char-siu like chicken' (barbequed chicken), shrimp wonton, taupok & long beans. Just look at the fiery red and creamy curry gravy.....so tempting!
and yes, it taste absolutely GOOD!
On my second visit, I came with the team, I had spicy smoked beef pasta. It's not spicy but have a pungent lemongrass with the 'masak lemak' taste in its gravy
we also ordered ala-carte 'keropok lekor' with a discounted price (for every 3 main meals ordered per table will be entitled to order this at discounted price)
a colleague had this jumbo chicken nasi lemak set which comes with an entire chicken leg!
meanwhile another colleague ordered the Hainanese chicken rice set
and during one of the promotion, we were entitled with a complimentary assam laksa coz our orders exceeded RM50 (if not mistaken, can't remember!).
Everyone tried a lil' on the assam laksa. It was spicy and sour to the extreme! Well, luckily it is shared. Can't imagine the consequences if it is eaten solo.
Bon Appetit!

Midori Japanese Restaurant, Marriott Putrajaya

Sometime Nov last year, we had our team dinner at this very quiet/secluded Japanese restaurant in  Marriott Hotel Putrajaya.
just look at these empty seats...as if we have booked the entire restaurant for ourselves coz there was no one at sight besides us
As our group is big (13 pax), we occupied two tables and ordered heartily.
Here's our orders:
Soft shell crab tempuras
 Gyoza
 Sashimis
 Unagi getta
 Cheese Baked Oyster
and this is my bento set - Midori bento that costs RM68!
It consists of sashimis, unagi, grilled fish, tempuras, nimono, salads, miso soup, and fruit platter. And yes, it also came with a bowl of rice!
this is crazily huge as I've never seen such huge bento before. Presentation wise is not bad coz the bento box is a lacquer box with lid.
we also ordered ala-carte yasai tempura with is assortment of shrimp, eggplant, sweet potatoes & ocra tempuras..
and another colleague ordered dorayaki (red-bean pancakes) to share...
Food was good and with reasonable price. I wonder how this restaurant can survive until today coz that place is hardly discovered by anyone.
There were plenty more on the table but i did not take the pictures coz it would be rude to do so when people already diggin' in their food.

The Chicken Rice Shop again...

When I m indecisive of what to eat, I tend to go for the safest choice....
yea, the chicken rice or simple noodles which can't go wrong for my hungry stomach
indeed I was so hungry that day I can eat up an elephant...so I ordered a jumbo meal that consists of chicken breast, braised egg, beancurds, blanched taugeh and the rice with soup. The soy bean drink comes with the set meal.
there goes my Hearty Value Meal.....
so contented after finishing this!

Voila Hotel - Breakfast & Dinner, Day 12

On the Deepavali day, I went down for the hotel breakfast only to be surprised with this extra spread...
Yes, the Indian sweet delicacies!
so nice of the hotel to arrange this locally made sweets and cakes for its residents, thumbs up!
but well, I know how extremely sweet it was, hence I did not take.
Instead I prefer the savoury food which is my usual hashbrowns, sausages, baked beans, samosas and omelet...
then, it was time to work...again...
Yea, I worked even during the holiday, not in the office but in my room-sweet-room
Dinner was...
I ordered the appetizer, which is the pakhora....consists of fried calamari rings, samosa and fried chicken cubes
luckily I had the pakhoras, else I would die of hunger while waiting for this vegetarian curry to be prepared
it took so long to be served and I did not have my lunch during noon ~~~~
 ok, makan time!
after the meal, I laze around, coz was so reluctant to get back to the room...
so, took picture here and there...
It was fun seeing those working-class expats/occupants doing their job in the hotel cafeteria, just becoz their offices were closed on Diwali day...
yea, I was one of them, stucked in the hotel but still gotta work...At least I dun feel alone.
Poor guy sitting at the corner, drinking booze while working on his laptop...
He must be rushing on some work too.
*he was away when I took the below photo
Went exploring the hotel gym....not much of equipment there, only a few treadmills, cycling machines and dumb bells.

HJ Seafood Restaurant, Kuchai Lama

First time dining in this restaurant. Paid RM100 per pax for the set lunch. Here's the menu.  It was for an event. Food was just so-so.....
