Lau Pa Sat

Nightwalk around the city, nearby the office.
Shenton Food Hall - opens during daytime till 9pm, weekdays only.
[Below] Lau Pa Sat, a bigger scale hawker centre compared to Shenton Food Hall. The other option for affordable work lunch would be Amoy Hawker Centre but that is further walk towards the other side.
This place is patronised by mostly office workers during the daytime and tourists in the evening. Pricewise is slightly higher than normal food courts because of its strategic location.
I wanted to try SG hokkien mee and SG laksa, so i went to this stall.
Ordered a small laksa and hokkien mee, but it came out like normal portion with lotsa noodles.
Since i wasn't in a rush, i slowly eat to finish them. I've never tried SG hokkien mee before...turns out it tastes like my mum's fried yee mee despite the noodle type difference.
So, all the while my mum had been frying SG hokkien mee without me realising😂
Then the SG laksa...the curry gravy is kinda santan-ish, diluted kind of curry just like my mum's curry - the Chinese style mild curry😕
The ingredients are taupok, fishcakes and boiled egg.
Overall, the taste of both are kinda nostalgic...
The food I’m curious about turns out to have similar tastes from my mum's kitchen😂
The interior of Lau Pa Sat...I can easily get lost without the signboard labelling the 'street number' coz every corner looks the same to me.
It was stuffy & smoky inside, despite having large ceiling fans. The smoke from nearby woks and satay grills lingered on your clothes the longer you stayed there.
After the heavy meal, went for a stroll to burn off the calories.
This Christmas tree structure at Raffles Street was recycled from last year.
