Jewel Changi

Took Air Asia from KUL to SIN. Pre-ordered a Char Kuey Teow coz I wanted to try it after hearing so many positive reviews.
There are 4 prawns and a few slices of halal lapcheong. It was indeed tasty (rating: 8.5/10). The only thing lacking is wok-hei but can't expect that from a pre-packed CKT.
Thick clouds...It was raining at some areas along the way....Later during the evening, I learnt that several areas in Klang Valley and West Malaysia were in flood.
Touched down Changi an hour later.
Saw the billboard ad about Jewel Changi....Since I wasn't in a rush, why not drop by for a visit?
The immigration checks was a breeze, I was out of the airport in 5 minutes.
Took a free shuttle bus from T4 to T2.
At one junction, the bus stopped for quite long. I thought it was just the traffic light but then suddenly an entourage with traffic police and a black official limo passed by....carrying Malaysian flag. I wondered which Malaysian minister made a visit to SG then only i realised it was our PM after reading the news.
The bus journey from T4 - T2 was only a short one (roughly 10 minutes). After alighting the bus, I followed the signboard to the Jewel.
Passing by the bridge. There are travelators along the bridge.
The walkway & bridge are all covered (indoor).
It was drizzling rain outside.
Finally reached!
The 'waterfall' structure is massive. At one point, it came out mist.
The garden below....
Very soothing 'waterfall'
and therapeutic too😂
feels like surrounded by nature greens although it is not a real jungle😍

Uncle Roger Fry Rice

First time trying Fuiyoh! restaurant...
Nope, not in Pavilion KL but in KLIA2
The restaurant was 'almost empty' and i wanted to have a quick lunch that is not burger, sandwich nor fast food, so this one looks promising.
Ordered and paid at the counter. I wanted to have their original fry rice that comes with sambal but was sold out, so only the egg fry rice was available.
Despite no queue, the kitchen took some time to fry a fresh batch of rice...I waited for 10 minutes for this plate of freshly cooked fry rice, served piping hot from the kitchen.
First bite...okay-lah...the flavor mostly from msg....so the taste quite flavorful....Just lacking ingredients, no veggies, beans nor chicken chunks. The carbs (from rice) mostly filled up my hungry stomach.
My verdict: For RM18.55 you can get better fry rice elsewhere.

Tofufa (Beancurd Pudding)

Featuring some foods/drinks that I'll be buying again and will never get bored with...
First...the tofufa and soy milk from pasar malam...
RM3 per box of tofufa and RM3 for a small bottle (500ml) of soymilk. I usually request for the sugar syrup to be packed separately.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then, from the same pasar malam again, bought this pack of fried noodles (which comes with curry potatoes in cubes) RM4 and add-on taro with pork belly (RM4)....So, in total RM8 for this pack of satisfying dinner.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
McD prosperity burger with curly fries and fizzy orange juice...no need intro...I'd probably have this a few times before they are sold out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Char kuey teow from Good Morning Kopitiam located at the parking lot next to the Pinnacle mall...
This CKT has no cockles, only fishcakes and 2 pieces of prawns. RM8 + add on fried egg (RM1.50)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chicken katsu curry rice which comes with miso soup and potato salad from Niko-niko Onigiri shop. RM19.50 nett (if not mistaken). There are also chunks of boneless chicken in the curry apart from carrot and potato cubes. The portion is huge, only eat this when you are near famine.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lycee with watermelon drink from BingXue (RM6).
Quite refreshing. Can customise with less sugar and ice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bak kut teh from the stall in Lucky Restaurant kopitiam. RM18 for BKT and RM1.50 for add-on rice.
Less organ parts, mostly pork belly and pork ribs which I like. The soup is not too salty nor 'kaw' (thick with herbs flavor).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nasi kunyit with rendang chicken from Kebun Kopi located in The Store building (RM14.50)
It comes with acar and fried tempe. The sambal and the rendang is not spicy at all. Taste like authentic nyonya-style rendang.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Prawn omelette rice (RM18.90+) and wantons in soup (5 pieces for RM14.50+)
There is white rice beneath the prawn omelette. The omelette has around 10 pieces of fresh bouncy prawns.
Sambal is not included with the rice, but there's a jar of sambal on each table and it goes well with the omelette.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lastly, unrelated to food....just me being lazy in trying clothes...hahahaha. Tried the skirt without taking pants off😂
Charitree @ MBS
Taking a break from my usual foodie posts.....
and will be featuring some sceneries and stunning Christmas trees/lights in this post instead.
Was in SG earlier this month, so i took the opportunity to walk around Marina Bay Sands again...
[Below] Some of the iconic structures...
And the brightly lit office buildings...
Christmas trees line-up...the same old trees from last year....but with different sponsors.
There's another row of trees at the lower deck.
Here's an outstanding one from Kuok Group....they must have donated alot...
The main Christmas tree, this year it is red with 'SG60' text signifies the Singapore’s 60th year of independence.
Apple store...not far from those 'trees'.
Closed (past 10pm already).
I shall come earlier next time😂
On my way back to the hotel, passed by the office...
it was quiet...
I took the same picture of this signboard on last year....
[Below] Inside the The Shoppes (at Marina Bay Sands).....Went in for the cooling aircond....most shops already closed.
The list of sponsors/donors for the ChariTree this year.
Till then be merry & be jolly!
Merry Christmas!!!
Yong Tau Foo
Yong Tau Foo sold at 126 Mixed Rice shop. RM2.20 per piece.
Fish balls, fish cakes and chee cheong fun are available too.
I have tried the bitter gourd and brinjal. The stuffing is pork paste instead of fish paste.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dry curry noodle (hakka mee) at Yitcha Kaw Kaw. It has the same ingredients as the normal curry mee, minus the curry soup.
The gravy is thick curry type, and the noodles are coated with dark soy sauce.
Ingredients are deep fried crispy beancurd sheet, tofu puff, long beans, taugeh, cabbage, deep fried hakka pork and deep fried wanton.
Taste ok, I prefer the normal curry mee with soup for the same price.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Char Kuey Teow from Good Morning kopitiam (located at the parking lot ground nearby Pinnacle mall). Instead of kuey teow noodle I had rat tail noodle. Tastes similar to the usual CKT. By default, it is without cockles. Other ingredients are fishcakes and 2 pieces of prawns.
RM8 nett.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chives with pork dumplings from Fu Man Yuen Dumpling shop. The minimum order is 10 pieces per plate. They have cabbages with pork dumpling and several other combinations.
Can choose either steam or deep fried. I prefer steamed dumplings coz deep fried is usually too oily.
