2013 Seafood Restaurant

A simple celebration on my mum's birthday.
Tried out this new neighborhood Chinese restaurant located within the same building as The Store supermarket. I think this lot was previously occupied by some China-style hotpot restaurant.
This place is spacious and has a few private rooms.
We ordered the following:
Yam basket with kungpou chicken
Stir-fried kailan...with some shredded seaweed & anchovies topping
Shrimp & tofu in pumpkin sauce
and a sweet & sour pork buried underneath the ice-cubes (please see the topmost picture above, in blue bowl)
I prefer the sweet & sour pork served warm instead of with ice-cubes😂, but my annoying sis did the ordering....so let her be.
Total bill came to RM168.80 nett.

Dessert was birthday cake bought from Berry's....a Japanese cheesecake.

The Westin Hotel - Laundry

Stayed in The Westin during my last trip to Panama (in Feb-Mar)
A deposit of USD300 was required during the check-in.
The hotel is located in the Coste del Este neighborhood commercial area with a few office buildings nearby.
By evening the place turned quiet after most of the offices closed. Even the Starbucks closed at 8pm.
Just some snap shots taken from the 9th floor where the pool is located.
Quiet on both weekday and weekend's evening as well. I guess their people don't go out at night, unlike Malaysia with lots of nighttime mamak, steamboat/hotpot place, malls etc.
This neighborhood consists of mixed development of commercial and residential buildings.
I stayed in one of the tall apartments here back in 2023...guess which?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
During the weekend, I drop-off some clothes for the hotel laundry. Then the next day I received a 'note' informing me that the clothes were ready but I wasn't in the room, with a "Do Not Disturb" tag hung on the door when they delivered it.
Such a nice courtesy.
Flipped the card, same message but in Spanish.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The room has a huge screen TV with multiple channels, which I hardly watch.
how many channels are there?
the TV is so thin and flat....The above side-view shows how 'thin' it is!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OK, my clothes finally arrived (the next day) while I was in the room. And it came in a box, sort of a gift box😂
So delighted to receive a box of my own clothes😂
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My typical breakfast of rice with beans and some local dishes in the hotel's cafeteria. I tried ropa vieja (shredded beef). The flavor abit like "Ayam brand tuna with chili".....beef version, instead of tuna.
Ordered an omelet too.
When I wasn't in rush and have ample breakfast time (normally during the weekend), I would have a fruit bowl with assorted nuts too.

Grand Cha Chaan Teng @ SkyAvenue

This is a new restaurant located in SkyAvenue mall nearby the casino entrance. Although the name is 'cha chaan teng', but most of the items in its menu are local food instead of HK-style cha chaan teng food.
Ordered the following:
Curry noodles....the ingredients are fishballs, fishcakes, sotong, prawn, taupok...
Shrimp kampung fried rice...OK, not bad, it has anchovies and generous portion of shrimps.
Nasi lemak ayam berempah. Chicken abit on the dry side but portion-wise ok.
Ordered a take-away roasted duck (half bird). Chewy yet succulent meat😋
and a box of egg tarts consists of 3 pieces.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Zongzi festival is on this Saturday. Bought a box of rice dumplings.
It is frozen-type. Need to reheat before consumption. A box consists of a bakchang, nyonya-chang and an alkaline rice dumpling.
This year their bakchang has dried oysters instead of chestnut. I prefer the latter.
Which do you prefer?
AGM
Went for an AGM for a company that owns the kit kat and milo brand...
It was held in the M World Hotel Bandar Utama, formerly known as Avante hotel.
The meeting started at 10 but most shareholders were already there in the early morning to collect their freebies/breakfast and participated in the 'fun fair'.
They have a mini 'fun fair' with food samplings and games to win more freebies, which are their food/beverage products.
Free Kit Kat and Milo ice-creams too....
Here are the free breakfast pack and some 'food freebies' that I got....
Hong Fu Lao Dim Sum
Had dim sum on last weekend. It has been some time since i last had one.
Ordered the following:
Xiao long bao - RM8.50
Tastes OK with flavorful pork broth beneath the doughy skin wrapper.
Shrimp cheung fun - RM7.50
There are roughly 6 medium size fresh shrimps wrapped inside the rice noodle rolls. Sambal belacan is provided by default. Smooth cheung fun with pleasant savoury taste from the soy sauce😋
Mushroom, chicken and waxed sausage rice - RM13.90
Boneless chicken thigh meats with few pieces of lap cheong and shiitake mushrooms, on top of white rice doused with their signature dark soy sauce. Taste 'homely', like my mum-cooked rice-pot chicken rice.
Total price after service charges and tax: RM34.70 nett
I will definitely order these items again.
Genting Secret Garden Hotpot
Took a day off on last Friday and had hotpot for dinner.
My first time trying this restaurant. It was crowded during the peak dinner hours and had to queue for around 10-15 minutes.
Will try to avoid peak hours if I know that this place is opened till 1am on Friday😅
The menu
There are also set per pax for those dining solo.
The windows were opened for air circulation. Those sitting next to the window can enjoy the cool evening breeze. It wasn't that cold then, just 21 degree Celcius.
Ordered the RM58 per pax meal and add-on rice and beancurd skins.
The veggies - enoki, shiitake and shimeji mushrooms, pumpkins, romaine lettuces, bok choy, lotus root, sweet corn...
The meat platter consists of 1 miserable prawn, 3 slices of toman fish, some chicken & pork slices, pork balls, squid balls, fish balls, spam.
Udon noodle is included with the set. Chicken soup base. The other one is just plain water.
Free flow Chinese tea provided.
Nice to have hotpot once in a while especially during the cool evening😃
BON APPETIT!
Town Center Mall @ Costa del Este
Went to the Town Center Mall for dinner after an evening walk.
With such hot weather like M'sia, going to the air-conditioned mall is refreshing after the walk.
I went straight to the foodcourt to 'hunt' for food.
The Carl's Jr menu looks fascinating.....
KFC menu....
Chicken Factory....
It has combo of Ribeye and quarter chicken...very meaty!
Then I browsed at the Chinese food menu at "Mr Chen"
quite standard 'westernized' Chinese food😂
Price is almost like fast food too.
The foods are all pre-cooked, similar style like Panda Express.
I ended up at....
yea, Carl's Jr!
I had set meal with Jalapeno burger (USD11.65)
yummeh...big fat juicy burger😋
For dessert, I went to Heladeria and had ron con pasas (raisin rum) and arequipe (sweet caramel) flavors again. Super sweet!
2 huge scoop costs USD4.28 which is almost MYR20😐
heck cares, claim company😁
After done with the heavy meal, I went to the gallery at top floor for 'jalan jalan'....
This mall doesn't change much (since my last visit 2 years ago). Most of the shops and restaurants are still there.
It closes at 9pm, although some restaurants open till late.
Zielo @ Costa del Este
My colleague from the Cayman Islands (Caribbean) was scheduled to return home after a few days in Panama office, so my 'boss' decide...
