First meal in Barbados

continuation of the previous post
In the following flight with British Airways (from London Heathrow to Bridgetown, Barbados), I was served with chicken tikka masala with rice. Well, i must try the so-called British national dish πŸ˜‚ from their flag carrier airline....
There are alot of other stuffs on this food tray.
Ice-cream was served after the meal....'very vanilla' flavor, ooooo.....i like this airline very much!
I landed around 5pm at Grantley Adams International airport. Check-out was easy, but the waiting time to collect the luggage was quite long. They seem to be shorthanded to handle huge passenger airline. Well, the airport isn't big after all.
The 'taxi driver' hired by the company, Mr.Emerson was patience enough to wait for us (me & another colleague). My phone battery died out after texting him to inform about the long wait at the baggage carousel.
I shall give praise to this Mr-Nice-Guy taxi driver for his excellent service. Well, he is a middle aged man who is dedicated to his job, friendly, trusted and kind to bring us around whenever we requested.
Within half an hour we reached our apartment in Rockley at Christ Church (division). After checking-in and putting all my luggage into the room, we went out for a dinner before calling it a day.
The sky gets dark quite early in Barbados, it went dark around 6pm.
Not knowing much about the place, we walked to the nearby restaurant within Rockley Golf Club, known as Panenka Bar & Grill.
They have weekday specials - so i ordered one weekday special set meal which comes with a drink (BBD35 or MYR85.97).
It was indeed huge!
Chicken tenders (boneless) with lotsa fries and a bottle of Coke. I 'tapao' half of it to keep for the next day. Can't take too much of fried food in the evening (or 7am morning KL time). My biological clock is still adjusting with the 12 hours difference. Good that this eatery provides free boxes for take-away.
Here's my one-room apartment on the ground floor. The apartment comes with a living area, dining area and kitchenette (with fridge, stoves, cooking utensils).
My colleague is staying next door (we stayed separately).
The kitchenette is so well-equipped. I shall blog about this in another post.
Look at how cute it is! It has a coffee/tea maker, microwave, oven, stove, pots/pans....yada yada....I can do my own cookingπŸ˜ƒ
But i only have a packet of Maggi mee with me then.
The rattan sofas reminds me of the furniture at my uncle's old house many years ago...LOL!
Talking about uncle, my BIL indeed has an uncle from Barbados (but has since moved to UK decades ago).
Very homely bedroom too!
Bathroom/toilet....
Housekeeping service on every 2 days. All toiletries will be replenished by then.
There is a back-porch outside the living hall. But with the hot, humid & rainy weather (like Malaysia), no one would ever sit here for long.
The apartment comes with a natural alarm clock that goes off at 4am+ daily (including weekend).
The weather in Barbados is unpredictable. The winds are strong and the clouds move in speed. At one point it is bright and sunny and the next minute it rains cats & dogs.
When u see skies like this, go look for a shelter coz it definitely will rain in a couple of minutes (or seconds). But it was a quick one before the skies turn bright again.

Wah, you are so brave to live in a nice place without grilles like this unlike places in kl, all windows and doors are with grilles. πŸ‘

SO nice that you get to travel like this for work. I don't think I will ever get a chance to go to Barbados. I had a laugh seeing the natural alarm clock hee..hee...

Posting some pictures of Shangri-la hotel SG. It is located on Orange Grove Road, just off Orchard Road, in a quieter, more residential area...
