Yuletide

Was shopping for my Christmas clothes and shoes on last Friday and chances upon this decoration at the mall...
This version is far better than last year ...
the pile of whitish lump on the bottom right is a manmade igloo...I wonder why they put up an igloo there...so 'out of place'
anyhow, great effort in creating the ambience...as they already play up X'mas tunes all over the mall...
jingle bells jingle bells jingle all da way......

Daytime Exploration @ Hard Rock Hotel Bali

continuation of a very outdated post....
I had a daytime exploration around the hotel but a brief one while waiting for the pickup van to the airport on my final day in Bali (yes, that was Sept 2015, so outdated now!).
Here's a clearer view of the hotel garden. It is smacked rite in the centre of the hotel, surrounded among the building blocks.
the mini amusement park, it has slides that go down towards the pool..so fun! but I did not hav the chance to play :-(
The glass building on the left is the cafeteria...u get to view the park while dining in the cafeteria!
the wooden balconies and window panels...so Balinese-style!
there are hundreds of these classic artistes pictures hung all over the place
and a dedicated electronic guitar for each legendary musician/rock star.
ok dokie...to be continued....

Esquire Kitchen

We have been to the Esquire Kitchen several times but somehow yet to try out their signature dishes....
Hence this time I took lead to order all their signature dishes which includes the 'Tong Po' meat...aka pork stew....
so meaty....so 'heavenly'!
this zha jiang mian is in the 'recommended list', I ordered a bowl too...for sharing among us. Nothing fancy...jst noodles in fermented bean paste, which I could easily whip up at home.
and u can't complete the meal without having meat dumpling to go with the noodles...yes, it is 'jiaozi' (mandarin) aka 'wortip' (Cantonese) or simply known as potstickers (in western countries)...and in some parts of the world, it is known as gyoza, mandu, or momo...whatever name it is given...
as this restaurant specializes also in Szechuan cuisine, we ordered their Mapo tofu too...
the feasting began....
food was ok...but kinda surprised that their 'xiao long pao' is tad dry....(I did not take the picture coz was busy eating when it halfway arrived)
Anyway, the total damage is RM84.40 (inclusive of GST and service charge).

Lunches @ Tea Garden

My lunch kakis are Tea Garden's loyal customer...nowadays they frequent to this outlet in IOI City mall almost every week!
I followed them on certain days, and here's what I had...'double boiled chicken with Chinese yam  soup' set. It came with side dish of braised peanuts and kimchi...
the soup taste like any chicken soup as the Chinese yam is sort of tasteless...it was indeed a very homey meal and it reminds me of my mum's homecooked soup...best eaten when it's warm...
On my next visit, I decided to try out their lunch promotion, it was RM10 for a dessert + main...
Dessert was beancurd pudding aka taufoofa....soft, smooth and silky...yumzzx!
I can't get enuff of kimchi...so I ordered kimchi with abalone noodles....
well...those abalone slices are not genuine for sure...it was those cheapskate that u can get in packets sold in the morning market...but still the noodles was packed with flavour!
here's the interior...I wonder why it was empty that day...perhaps we went there late...
Bon Appetit!
