Sweet Bean @ Sri Petaling - Tong Sui Desserts

This tong sui shop has been around in the neighborhood for 2 decades, but I only went there a few times....The last time i visited was more than a decade ago😂

I'm not into sweet soup, so that explains it.

This time was exceptional as we want to have some dessert after the dinner.

Ordered a mak chuk (wheat porridge dessert), and 'sesame+peanut paste combo' for sharing.

The taste was okay, and both were served warm, which made them enjoyable while still hot.

Thick peanut and sesame paste, would be good if there's something to dip.....Good for sharing.

The bill came to RM15.95 nett.

Will come back here again to try other items😀

Al Diafah Restaurant

Back to having middle eastern cuisine....

The last time i dined here was more than half year ago.

The interior is very captivating....like some sort of 'atas' restaurant.

There are colorful lamps decorating the counter too.

Here's what I had - Mendy rice with whole chicken leg....

It is no longer nice as before.

Price has increased too....almost RM30 for this meal (after service charges and tax).

I think I'm gonna skip this restaurant for long.

McD v-shape fries which was available a few weeks ago....

Nothing special, tastes just like ordinary fries, only the shape is different.

By the way, McD is currently offering a weekday promotion from 12 PM to 2 PM

with McChicken Value Meal for just RM5.95 nett, valid until 13 August.

[Below] Chicken essence in packet form....

I seldom drink this sort of chicken essence although it has nutritional value. I prefer the natural chicken essence that is not packaged. How about you?

Midam Korean Restaurant - Bibimbap

Was craving for Korean bibimbap, it has been a year plus since I last had one....

So I went to Midam again for their set lunch.

The set comes with 5 banchans and a refillable barley tea.

The banchans are blanched broccoli, sausages, kimchi, pickled cucumber and mashed potatoes.

Now the mains......the stone pot was hot and the bibimbap was sizzling when served.

Sesame oil and gochujang sauce were provided.

Stir well the rice with the ingredients, gochujang and sesame oil before eating.

it was good!

The bill came to RM22 nett after service charges and tax.

2013 Seafood Restaurant

After our first visit, we thought of coming here again to try other dishes.

This time we ordered:

Curry fish head

Thick & flavorful curry gravy that goes well with rice, curry is not spicy at all.

The other dishes we had are: Chongqing chicken in pot, minced pork tofu and romaine lettuces in 'fuyu' sauce.

The Chongqing chicken has peppercorns, so have to be careful not to bite into it. This dish has lotus roots, chives, chilis and chunks of chicken. Slightly spicy, but still bearable.

Meanwhile the tofu and romaine lettuces are just ordinary, nothing to shout about.

The bill came to RM197.80 nett for 5 pax.

Apam manis from the weekly pasar malam....

I prefer the crispy ones, so i bought 3 pieces for RM6.

Sweet and nice to enjoy as snack.

Hong Fu Lou Dim Sum

This was sometime ago during my 2nd/3rd visit to HFL dim sum....

I had:

Shrimp cheung fun

Stuffed green chilis

Xiao long bao

and chicken feet (pheonix claw)

The bill came to RM36.55 nett after service charges and tax. Tastewise OK. I will definitely order these again.

After I discovered that they have mushroom chicken rice, I decided to give it a try and immediately hooked on it.

The mushroom chicken rice is RM13.90++

Some other items which are available from noon onwards (this was in year 2023 but is still valid now, maybe the price slightly different):

I have also tried deep-fried shrimp dumpling (*in another visit)....it was served with mayo sauce....

Beef Roti

Went to join the queue coz i was curious on how the beef roti tastes like....

The staffs kept making rotis while they were trays readily available at the counter. I wonder how many rotis are sold per day.

Good arm exercise!

Their marketing strategy....the word 'viral'

but personally I don't see the reason why it is viral....it tastes just ordinary....

Deep fried dough which is so oily....like youtiao....and the minced beef filling is just so-so compared to our beef murtabak.

I finally made a visit to this restaurant for a meet up with friend.

Had smoked duck pasta (RM23 nett) whereas she had big breakfast....

Al-dente pasta with very salty smoked duck....

The food was just OK.

Dao

We later adjourned to Dao for our desserts....

I had my fav soybean softserve in a cup, not too sweet just nice😋

Up to You Signature Kopitiam & I Love Yoo!

I also bought a ma geok ("horse leg" shaped fritter) from I Love Yoo....all these items were on 50% discounted price after 7pm+

The soybean milk is from Homesoy packet which I poured into a bowl for aesthetic feel😂

Total price for 2 currypuffs and 1 ma geok is RM4.65nett after discount.

Usual price is RM2.90 per piece of currypuff and RM3.50 per piece of ma geok.

Both taste good when eaten fresh.

Up to You

The below items are from Up to You kopitiam.....

I had nasi lemak with chicken curry and ordered an ala-carte acar. The chicken curry was served in a bowl, mostly chicken breast meat.

Acar.....portion-wise OK but taste abit mild...not sour and spicy enough for my tastebud.

[Below] Nasi lemak with pickled cucumber and belacan & onion sambal.

It came with sunny side up egg with runny yolk by default.

The restaurant interior is very "Chinese-style retro kopitiam"

Quite empty coz nearing closing hour.

The bill came to RM24 nett.
