Kenny Hills Coffee @ The Food Merchant OUG

First time visiting The Food Merchant OUG, after recommendation by colleagues. It was a Sunday and there was a Thai Food Fair at the parking lot, hence parking space was limited that day.
Hot and sunny day so i wanted to have something cooling...at a comfy place - Kenny Hills Coffee.
Ordered a watermelon smoothie 'Pink Guzzler'. Paid and seated at table 6, waiting to be served😀
A decent size glass of iced smoothie for the price of RM18.55 (i think i can buy a 3kg watermelon with this price). The glass is smaller than the table number😂
Anyway, nice to enjoy a pricey smoothie in the cafe once-in-a-while.
After cooling down, I went to buy sushi from the Food Merchant supermarket. Tuna and salmon sushi. On the side is cucumber roll.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Outside at the parking lot, the Thai Food Fair with various stalls set up - there was a stall selling deep fried insects....
Do you dare to try?
Tables available for outdoor dining...I guess it is only 'merrier' in the evening. No one will sit here under the hot sun during the daytime.
Plenty tables....
I did not visit all the stalls, just glanced thru some of them....this sort of Thai Food Fair available all year round, rotating around the neighborhoods in the vicinity.
~~~~~~~~~~~
[Below] Unrelated to the above, my first time trying the crispy deep fried fuchuk (beancurd sheet) from Super Kitchen Chili Pan Mee shop. It was served hot and crispy, so it is nice to bite on like keropok.
Am not interested with deep fried insect, but deep fried fuchuk a big yes!
~~~~~~~~~~~
[Below] 'Buy 3 free 1' promotion at Authentic Bakery, Pinnacle mall from 7pm onwards.
I bought a cheese stick, donut, sausage bun and sugar bun.
Total RM10.80nett
The buns, cheese stick and donut taste alright😋
Will buy again when i'm in the mood of eating buns/donuts.
Menya Hanabi @ Sri Petaling
This outlet has been around in the neighborhood for a few years now, but i have not visited it even once.
Its specialty is mazesoba, but I'm not keen on having dry version noodles, so I ordered a Nagoya ramen.
You can view the menu here: https://menyahanabi.com.my/menu/
WYSIWYG - the noodles look exactly like the picture in the menu. It has pieces of charsiu in it...and chunks of garlic on top.
Plain water is provided FOC for every customer.
Decent bowl of ramen which tastes like any other ramen from established ramen chain😂
Al dente noodles, thick & flavorful soup, and meaty charsiu...which is quite standard.
Sorry, am not ramen expert, so all ramen tastes similar to me. LOL!
Lunch Delivery at Office: Breadfruit
Excerpt from Wikipedia:
Breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) is a species of flowering tree in the mulberry and jackfruit family (Moraceae) believed to be a domesticated descendant of Artocarpus camansi originating in New Guinea, the Maluku Islands, and the Philippines.
British and French navigators introduced a few Polynesian seedless varieties to Caribbean islands during the late 18th century. Today it is grown in some 90 countries throughout South and Southeast Asia, the Pacific Ocean, the Caribbean, Central America and Africa.
~~~~~~~~
Despite from Southeast Asia, I have not seen nor heard of this fruit before. I only know of jackfruit and this breadfruit looks similar to it but in smaller size. I don't think it has big seeds like jackfruit. I only learnt about this fruit from Wiki, as did not get the chance to see the fruit in its raw form.
Anyway, to cut the story short, I've only seen it once - a cooked one. It was introduced by the colleagues in Barbados, as they ordered it for lunch.
Breadfruit is quite common in the Caribbean that the locals cook and turn them into staple.
Here's their local specialty: Pig's tail on breadfruit bowl.
Served with diced pickled cucumbers and tomatoes.
It was grilled till the skin burnt (which turned black like ashes).
This is how you eat it. Scoop the flesh out like you're eating jacket potato.
The texture is very much like tapioca, starchy and dense. It doesn't have strong smell like jackfruit, but it has a distinct light aroma, abit like a burnt jackfruit. It feels like eating 2-3 jacket potatoes portion. I felt so full after finishing this.
The pig's tail is cut into pieces with bones intact. It was salty and i believed it has been marinated, nevertheless it pairs well with the tasteless breadfruit flesh and pickled cucumbers/tomatoes.
Overall tastes good😋
This was my once-in-a-while exotic local meal, besides their famous flying fish.

The surroundings outside Rockley's Apartment, Barbados

I enjoyed looking at the greeneries in this golf course, which is just right outside the apartment.
Some of the apartments here are private residential and Airbnb while the one that I stayed is owned by a resort company.
The private residentials that looks like a resort villa.
The houses here are without fencing. I think the land outside these houses are maintained by the golf resort hence the well-kept landscapes.
Some units are bungalow type, some are semi-Ds
and terrace-like houses
There's a communal pool for private-owned-unit residences. Nope, I can't use this pool coz i stayed in the resort-owned unit which has its own pool. Unfortunately that pool was under maintenance!
This serene and peaceful golf 'taman' is the perfect retirement place. I wish I could stay here after retire😂
While enjoying the soothing greeneries that calms the mind...
It is usually sunny during the mid-morning to noon, but in the early morning you will get to see chickens and monkeys roaming around.
[Below] The short-cut way to Panenka restaurant which is within the golf course. It cuts short the distance by half, from my place.
All my work miseries gone the moment i look at these greeneries😂

Kawan Place @ Sri Petaling

Been here a few times and would usually ordered their nasi lemak.
This time I wanted to try something else, perhaps fried rice. If i remember correctly, they have 2 types of fried rice: prawn fried rice with is quite bland like Chinese-style fried rice and the other is kampung fried rice which has ikan bilis, chili and maybe belacan in it. I prefer the latter coz i like some spiciness in fried rice.
I also ordered a basket of assorted siu mai. It came with 5 different flavors - original, herbal, otak otak, black pepper and the last one can't remember, but I think is prawn siu mai.
These are halal, from chicken meat.
My favorite are the herbal and prawn siu mai.
Chili dip provided for the siu mai and surprisingly the kampung fried rice has chili dip too.
Total bill is RM28.40 for this extravagant dinner.

Catedral Basilica Santa Maria La Antigua, Casco Viejo, Panama City

Construction for this church, also known as the 'Sacred Heart Cathedral', began in 1688. It is a Roman Catholic Church. The facade reminds me of Ruins of St Paul (Macau) which was built around that era.
The blueprint is digitised in softcopy which is seen in the Canal Museum (that I visited earlier)
As this is a touristy spot, a triker is available for rent if you wish to 'tour' the old city in style.
USD60 per hour rental. This triker is parked right outside the cathedral.
The kiamsiap me: No thanks, i prefer to spend that amount elsewhere and tour the old city by foot.
Meanwhile, inside the cathedral, it was all calm and cooling. Nice to enjoy the aircond and sit on the benches to escape the scorching sun and noon heat outside.
This place is so well-kept and refurbished, it even have LCD tv screens at the side seatings where the altar is blocked by pillars. With such screens, those seated at the side can have a clear view of the center aisle and altar.
Restored and well-maintained. Visitors are not allowed to trespass the altar.
The exit door as seen from the aisle.
Another altar at a smaller prayer room.
Jesus Christ crucified on the cross.

SkyAvenue Complex

This is an overdue post.
[Below] Hari Raya decorations in SkyAvenue mall/complex. Decorative ketupats and wau bulan (Malay kites) hanging from the ceiling. The yellow and green cloth above is Malay 'anyaman' weaved using several strips of yellow and green fabric. Impressive and pretty👍
It was second day of Hari Raya, hence there were performances on stage, such as Malay dances and raya songs.
On the other side of SkyAvenue complex, there were crowds in the Skytropolis indoor theme park....Well, it is inevitable during the public holiday😅
Foodie like me would just walk around and 'survey' on nice cafe/restaurants/food kiosks.
Got free cake tasting....
one box for RM12
three boxes for RM30
Tastes like normal cakes sold in pasar malam, but with nicer packaging. Suitable as a gift.
macam macam flavors....
nope i did not buy...coz i can get cheaper ones in pasar malam. Besides, I'm not into cakes with fancy box.
I went up to the first floor, and 'kepoh' at Five Guys....
This shop is still around...hmmm....no boycott??
Anyway, till today i have yet to try any burger from Five Guys, they are quite pricey and I'm doubting if it worth the price unless it is super good/tasty.
Maybe i will try it one day...
Then i went to Paris......i mean Paris Baguette to survey a bit on the croissant and sandwiches....looks yum!
I finally settled at the Wynners cafe....coz here got nice couch to laze around.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eh, where's this pulak?
shiny floor and ceiling.....
Look very 'atas'
This is a 'restricted area' for members only....no picture allowed....but i curi-curi snap😶
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lastly, after finished surveying all eateries and 'forbidden area'...went to clothes stores to look see on the latest fashion trend😂
~~~~~~~~~~~
[Below] At my colleague's Raya open house. She cooked all these!
No picture of food here, but it was the same dishes from last year - Raya Open House 2023
I hope to be invited again on next year.....syiok to have free makan-makan!
Deepavali Decoratives at the Hotel Lobby
Due to multiple delays, the flight departs quite late, around 10pm plus. When I reached the Langkawi airport, it was already 11pm, but fret ...
