Dim Sum

Dim Sum had been one of my fav brunch options. Years ago, ma took granny and us (sis & I) for yum cha. It's now my turn to take ma for the same - the yum cha session.
It has been regular these days as i hav plenty of time to kill, hav big appetite the nearby Chinese restaurant is having its promotion;-)
So, off we went, enjoying our chinese tea and fav piece...of succulent juicy Dim Sum!
We ordered a few trays, mostly dumplings with shrimps, porks, shark fins, and a few local delicacies, such as fried carrot cake. My fav!

The menu

Pork & shrimp dumplings with sort of spicy sauce (a closer shot at below) - pretty much like shrimp dumpling, except that this came with the sauce!

My favorite fried carrot cake! It was so 'flavorful'...ich liebe es! Lo mai kai (Glutinous Rice with chicken & pork). This one failed! The rice was sticky and too oily! Besides chicken, the ingredient includes pork, waxed pork sausage (lap cheong), and shiitake mushroom. Again, another type of shrimp dumpling. Apart from its mundane pork fillings, the outer skin layer was too thick and sticky! not a good recommendation...
Shark fins dumpling. I love these! Sorry for the sharks...
siu mai
Steamed pork wrapped in lettuce - the lettuce was fresh but the sauce was too salty and it doesn't blend well with the stuffings in it! a closer view
After all this fattening food, how to lose fat leh???

gotta refrain myself from taking pork in the next few days!

bon appetit!

One Fine Evening

I took a visit to the garden which i had long abandoned...And saw some freshie edible plants...I dun grow them, pa did, and i'm looking forward to munch them!
tapioca leaves...this would be enuff for one meal - i want it stir-fried with
belacan!
the spring onions...how do i utilise them??? these are too much for my bowl
of noodles!
Also, introducing some non-edible new joiners!
u can't eat this, it's merely for decor! Dun u tink the color contour is wonderful?

Legal Issue on Contract Law in Malaysia

Notice that most of the time, the receipt/invoice you received from the merchant carries this exclusion clause or similarly worded statement: 'Goods sold are not returnable' or 'No refund once sold'.

'As long as your good is purchased for home use and not for business ( i.e. to be resold), the above exclusion clause is VOID.

That means, as long as the good is defective, regardless of what is worded, you CAN get back all your money spent. You do not have to accept a repair on the good or an exchange.

You CAN ask for a refund. AND you are LEGALLY right and entitled to!

And most of the time the merchant will refuse to return you your money.

You may refer this to Small Claims Tribunal Court.

All you have to pay is RM10 admin fee and the loser (the merchant) will have to refund you the money PLUS the admin fee!

Pls try not to let the merchant fleece you the next time you have a defective good.

You may file your case on the 16th floor of Putra Place (The Mall opposite Putra World Trade Centre) . The form cost RM5.00.

The Tribunal will settle within 2 months period.

Safety Method to Lock your Car

As circulated in emails,

here is one true story...

I locked my car. As I walked away I heard my car door unlock. I went back and locked my car again three times. Each time, as soon as I started to walk away, I would hear it unlock again!! Naturally alarmed, I looked around and there were two guys sitting in a car in the fire lane next to the store.
They were obviously watching me intently, and there was no doubt they were somehow involved in this very weird situation. I quickly chucked the errand I was on, jumped in my car and sped away. I went straight to the police station, told them what had happened, and found out I was part of a new, and very successful, scheme being used to gain entry into cars. Two weeks later, my friend's son had a similar happening...

While travelling, my friend's son stopped at a roadside rest to use the bathroom. When he came out to his car less than 4-5 minutes later, someone had gotten into his car and stolen his cell phone, laptop computer, GPS navigator, briefcase...you name it. He called the police and since there were no signs of his car being broken into, the police told him he had been a victim of the latest robbery tactic -- there is a device that robbers are using now to clone your security code when you lock your doors on yourcar using your key-chain locking device.

They sit a distance away and watch for their next victim. They know you are going inside of the store, restaurant, or bathroom and that they now have a few minutes to steal and run. The police officer said to manually lock your car door-by hitting the lock button inside the car -- that way if there is someone sitting in a parking lot watching for their next victim, it will not be you..
When you hit the lock button on your ca r upon exiting, it does not send the security code, but if you walk away and use the door lock on your key chain, it sends the code through the air waves where it can be instantly stolen. This is very real.

Be wisely aware of what you just read and please pass this note on. Look how many times we all lock our doors with our remote just to be sure we remembered to lock them -- and bingo, someone has our code and whatever was in our car.

Some facts on EPF Nominee

Info Sharing...

If ONE (1) of our Nominee in the EPF Nominees list deceased, automatically the whole arrangement (EPF Nominees list) is VOID. Meaning if, you only put in One (1) name & unfortunately he/she dies before you - automatically EPF will channel your EPF money to trustee of AMANAH RAYA upon your death.
Thou if, you DO have few names in the EPF Nominees list still - the whole arrangement is VOID & none of the individual balance name in the EPF Nominees list will get their portion & automatically EPF will channel your EPF money to trustee of AMANAH RAYA upon your death.
Piece of advice - if any of the your Nominee in the EPF Nominees list decease, please do immediately approach the nearest EPF counter & present the Death Certificate of the individual & re-instate you NEW/LATEST Nominee in the EPF Nominees list + NEW/LATEST percentage.
If, you & the other party (maybe spouse) involved in the same misfortune (accident/illness) that caused death to both yourself/spouse please alert your siblings/relatives/parents to immediately approach the nearest EPF counter & share the information within 3 days to AVOID all EPF money to be surrender to trustee of AMANAH RAYA.

Upon surrender to trustee of AMANAH RAYA, your children will have to battle the money thru 3 channels;

The normal period via above 3 channels usually takes 2-3 years (except if you have inside/tip top connection) at Amanah Raya.

Bumbu Bali

Work has been…very very hectic these days with beginning of the month being the extraordinary challenging period, which force us (everyone in the team) to fully maximize our brain cells and …of course, patience.

Nevertheless, boss knws our dedication and decided to throw an appreciation cum team dinner, thanking us for our commitment and continuous effort.
It was pretty odd that the team dinner turn out to be a quiet affair as we used to shout at each other in the office…as if in a sharefish market. After all, we are still a bunch of civilized people after then, and would manage to sit together for a decent meal!

Everyone was calm
About to start…the serious biz talks on dinner table…
Apart from Balinese food, this place also offers a variety of western set meals. I opted for Balinese food instead, as I never had it before.

Green Apple splash that I ordered. It was cooling and thirst quenching, with green apple and soda mixture, toppled with lemon, mint leaves and the apple itself…simply irresistible!
Nasi Campur Bumbu. This would be their trademark food on the menu. It came in a huge portion…with a lil’ bit of everything – grilled fish, squids, shrimps, stir-fry kangkung belacan, some site dishes, rendang chicken, and a huge piece of crunchy keropok! Definitely not for those with small appetite!
The grilled fish was tender and juicy, meanwhile the squid was chewy, almost up to perfection. The only letdown was the chicken which was hard and dry.
Overall, it was another mediocre meal, somewhat similar like the Malay food.
Another visit? Mayb not in this dimly lit & creepy atmosphere restaurant!
After a sumptuous meal, I’m now looking forward for the next team activity – team building!

1.5 Litre Isotonic Drink

While doing grocery shopping one fine afternoon, I spotted a long queue nearby the paying counters and decided to hav a look. It was one of the marketing promotion by 7up whereby they’l distribute a 1.5 litre isotonic drink in exchange of every empty isotonic drink can/bottle of any sizes. Sounds appealing, more so when I hav tones of empty 100plus cans at home. All thanks to my company as our can drinks are subsidized.

But again, I did not go for it. Not worth waiting in the long queue.

Cheapskate

It was one fine evening when I woke up from nap over some exciting loud voice. And since I could no longer get back into dreamland, i decided to head down to see what’s happenin.
There in the living hall, pa was busy cleaning a new rack. Without checking any further, I assumed tht he bought another rack to store his rubbish collection.
I was steaming frustrated and bashed some very mean statement.

Me:Not another rack?
Pa: this is for u…
Me: I’d be happy if u gimme cash than rack…

Soon after, i realized that it came from those unwanted items from our neighbor who hav recently moved out, leaving some furnitures behind.
And not only that, that rack came with a pair of umbrella, and some other minor stuffs which they distributed to their relatives and neighbors.

Headache upon seeing those items, I grabbed a medicated oil and applied some on my forehead. While doing so, I looked at the bottle and discovered that it wasn’t the usual one tht we hav.

Don’t tell me it belongs to our neighbors too???

Mum grinning sheepishly. Oh My!
