Burger Story

Burger is always my all-time-favorites. I remembered playing burger-theme computer games back in primary school. During then, computer games were stored in an old-fashioned diskett. As i grow older, i work part-time in a burger chain during semester break. But i have yet to get bored of burgers. Till now, i hav tasted burgers at various fast food chains, the popular ones are McD, Burger King, Carls Jr., Mos Burger...and some street burgers, such as the juicy Ramli's burger, be it special or non-specials all around Klang Valley..Not enuff with that, i had also tried RM1 burgers sold at Carrefour!

Believe me, I almost wanted to munch away with this sponge giant burger!

And i'm now targeting on the next Burger chain in town, Wendy's!
hmnn, i heard that their baked potatoes is quite popular too...

What's your favorite?

Craving for Local Foods

Despite living in a land where food is aplenty and varies, i have yet to try out most of them. One has to be very adventurous to travel from north-to-south & east-to-west as to taste the best food in this region. For no reason, i got this sudden constant cravings for local foods, mainly hawker noodles...While some of them can be found in KL/PJ areas, many are not...sigh :-(

Among my favs:
Vinegar loh mee, PJ
Sui Kow, Sg. Besi
Sang Har mee, Sg.Besi
Fruits rojak
Porridge
OUG Pork Noodles, this one is yummy, went there a few times!
Nasi Lemak, Mdm Kuan
Nasi Bojari, Mdm Kuan
Lou Shi Fun, Seremban
Lai Liew Har, Nibong Tebal
Famous Kuay Teow, JB
Bak Kut Teh, Klang

Hungry???
Me too :-(
My stomach is yelling growling...can't stand anymore...

Busy April

April has always been a busy month, especially on job-related stuffs. Besides being the peak time for projects 'go-live', it is also the beginning of 2nd quarter. And for certain companies, it is their bonus month, whereby you will see a huge turnover in the company (ppl quits after getting bonus)...yeah, not to mention the handover of tasks and some trainings to the newly joined colleagues. Well, it is even worse if there isn't a replacement person for that vacant position, the teammates will suffer for handling double/triple job. From the beginning of 1st till today, i can hardly remember of a single day where i m free (or at least have lesser things to do) in this particular month.
I have been working non-stop from 8am-6pm on a beautiful Saturday, when everyone else in the team are having their leisure somewhere...sigh...sigh....I have sleepless nite for weeks now.
And thinking about my job, i sort of frustrated.
Despite that, i m still having a great day on today (ok, yesterday) as i learnt some holy shits very useful skills from my hands-on. Back home, mum has been pestering me to bring her to Ikano...i was like "huh???!!" coz she seldom prefer to go to such places. Thinking back again, it has been quite some time since i last went for an actual shopping spree. I wish to be carefree, escaping everyting, and live life with no worries, but i m still very tied up with my duty (which will oni end on next weekend).
I'm wondering why i m still awake at this time, despite waking up early today. My mind and body are restless...i totally forgot that next thurs is a Labour Day!
Btw, April is also a month to submit Income Tax form, hav you done yours yet?

Illusion

It is such a mystery on how our brain interpret things!

Both of these are not automated!

Thai PM went to Imbi Market?

I read this news on The Star paper some 2 days ago. First thing that crossed my mind - This fella is a real humble man! Initially, the market trip wasn't in his visiting list, but he insisted on having a trip there just for the sake of comparing the prices (between his country and ours). Well, he can simply get his men to do it...and I was surprised to know that he cooks during the dinner hosted by Thai embassy...How could such a high profile guy cooks for the leaders when he himself is one of the VIP visitors?!! He is such a down-to-earth guy. But what puzzled me most is that, how could he (a chef) could end up with such a high profile position in his country? I wonder...

How great if...

if...i could work from home. My dream place should be something like in this picture. Comfy, bright and homely - A home office by the lakeside. It would be great if i could enjoy a sip of tea by the lakeside when i'm too stressed with work. Fresh air, cool breeze, and perfect nature view...with birds chirping on the nearby tree branch.
I hate those typical office environment, being surrounded with people and phones ringing non-stop (not mine though), which are such an unbearable nuisance.

Just a lil' note

I was having a great time reading my old blog ('Someting is Happenin') recently. Well, most of the posts there were sort of reminiscing the old days...carefree days. Such a big different when compared with my current posts. Those posts were more personalize and that blog wasn't much publicize during then. The fonts are colorful, the writtings are 'creative', despite having a boring template...Well, i used to hav such tinking that 'life-in-the-past was great'...

At least things weren't expensive during then...Nowadays, all i can hear (from news and people around) are complaints of prices increase and inflations etc..

Birds flying high, You know how I feel?
Sun in the sky, You know how I feel?
Breeze driftin' on by, You know how I feel?

I m feeling terribly terribly low..(*coz of inflation?)
duhh! My mind couldn't focus well these days...it seems malfunctioning. I can't stop myself from writing 2 unrelated items at one post!

Time Travel

Possible?

Well, i might not be the appropriate person nor someone in position to explain on those physics theories (which i dun even understand!), but i'd still think it is possible.

Time travel to the past is theoretically allowed using the following methods:
Traveling faster than the speed of light
The use of cosmic strings and blackhole
Wormholes and Alcubierre 'warp' drive

What the heck are all these? Ok, i tried to understand the logic behind all those explaination i could get over googling. I used to think alot on these when i was studying in primary school, being too much inspired by some fantasy movies...

Over the years, people came up with lotsa ideas to deny the possiblity of time travel.
One of the popular questions - If time travel is possible, why is there no visitors from the future?

I guess this classic question has been answered. There is already a technology that can make anyone invisible, thus, besides 'future beings' can simply disguise as 'present beings', they may also make themselves invisible if they are to travel back to past. As cool as that.

Shits

He threw me shits, i gave him more shits...
One day, he came to my place, shook my hands, and i smiled back at him.
But the shit saga continues...

3 things in life...

What do you see in the picture above? a mini jetty by the river? Do you see a fading picture of an adult and a lil' girl? What came across your mind when u see this picture?

~Something to ponder upon~

Three things in life that, once gone, will never come back:
1. Time
2. Words
3. Opportunity

Three things in life that are most valuable
1. Love
2. Family & Friends
3.Kindness

Treasure your loved ones and treat them nicely while you'd still got the opportunity...

Microwaving Water - True but rarely happen

This thing has been circulated around the net so often, and it is not the first time i m getting the news. Here's the original copy. FYI, this is a true case, but rarely happen. Sometimes i do see some of my colleagues microwaving water and instant noodles, and i kept a distance whenever they took it out from the microwave.

Microwaving Water!

A 26-year old man decided to have a cup of coffee. He took a cup of water and put it in the microwave to heat it up (something that he had done numerous times before). I am not sure how long he set the timer for, but he wanted to bring the water to a boil. When the timer shut the oven off, he removed the cup from the oven. As he looked into the cup, he noted that the water was not boiling, but suddenly the water in the cup "blew up" into his face. The cup remained intact until he threw it out of his hand, but all the water had flown out into his face due to the build up of energy. His whole face is blistered and he has 1st and 2nd degree burns to his face which may leave scarring.

He also may have lost partial sight in his left eye. While at the hospital, the doctor who was attending to him stated that this is a fairly common occurrence and water (alone) should never be heated in a microwave oven. If water is heated in this manner, something should be placed in the cup to diffuse the energy such as a wooden stir stick, tea bag, etc., (nothing metal).

It is however a much safer choice to boil the water in a tea kettle.

General Electric's Response:

Thanks for contacting us, I will be happy to assist you. The e-mail that you received is correct. Microwaved water and other liquids do not always bubble when they reach the boiling point. They can actually get superheated and not bubble at all. The superheated liquid will bubble up out of the cup when it is moved or when something like a spoon or tea bag is put into it.

To prevent this from happening and causing injury, do not heat any liquid for more than two minutes per cup. After heating, let the cup stand in the microwave for thirty seconds! before moving it or adding anything into it.

Here is what our local science teacher had to say on the matter: "Thanks for the microwave warning. I have seen this happen before. It is caused by a phenomenon known as super heating. It can occur anytime water is heated and will particularly occur if the vessel that the water is heated in is new, or when heating a small amount of water (less than half a cup).

What happens is that the water heats faster than the vapor bubbles can form. If the cup is very new then it is unlikely to have small surface scratches inside it that provide a place for the bubbles to form. As the bubbles cannot form and release some of the heat has built up, the liquid does not boil, and the liquid continues to heat up well past its boiling point.

What then usually happens is that the liquid is bumped or jarred, which is just enough of a shock to cause the bubbles to rapidly form and expel the hot liquid. The rapid formation of bubbles is also why a carbonated beverage spews when opened after having been shaken."

Nuffnang is USELESS

Well, this statement could be too harsh on them, but i m already dissappointed with the long wait of being selected to run an ads campaign.

As being told (on their site, and in their correspondent support mail)
"There are many factors affect a blog’s selection in being delivered a Cost-Per-Unique Visitor ad, among many is the ad placement on the blog and whether a blog is Glitterati or not".

I have met all those criterias and in fact a Glitterati member, but till now, i m yet to be selected :-(

I might as well scrap off my Glitterati member and rejoin adverlets, at least i can earn a few cents daily...(rather than nothing!)

On the other hand, I hav just got my EPF statement (Employee Provident Fund) and to my surprise, the dividend calculation are all WRONG! This is horrible! All these while I thought it should be correct, but after being told by a colleague, I calculated and found some mistakes. This entire thing is creating more problems to my already-problematic-life....

Wonderland

What's the similarity between these pictures?
Look carefully
Can't figure out yet?Onions, giant tomatoes on the dining table, with dried chillies hanging
bun-like rock hills
my fav, brocolli (as trees) and hot air balloons...i wanted to be in this wonderland!
a cart loading giant garlics!
underwater world with carrots resembling stalactite
cottages, with stalls selling giant tomatoes, how great if this is real!
All these are made from food. When i was a kid, i used to dream to live in such fantasy world...
coz I dun have to worry about being hungry, as everyting is edible ;-)

Maybank ATM

As circulated over the net:

"I would like to share a real life story with all my friends and especially all my colleagues and all Maybank account holders. This incident happened on today evening (1 April 2008). I went to the PJState (Also known as PJ New Town) Maybank to withdraw RM500. Unfortunately for me, only 9 RM50 notes came out instead of 10.
What happened was, one of the RM50 notes was folded exactly in half and placed at a corner of the stack (Please refer to the attached pictures showing how two RM50 notes can be counted as three).
I was so upset because I have no proof that the ATM did not give me the correct amount. After much hesitation, I finally decided to call Maybank to complain about the incident knowing that I may not get back my money. But at least I can caution them of such incident. When I told of my situation to the Maybank Customer Service Representative, to my surprise, I was informed that I'm not the first victim. It seems that similar cases have occurred before. The lady explained that it is the malfunction of the ATM and the money may accidentally get folded in half. However when questioned, she was unable to explain to me why the money can be folded exactly in half and placed nicely in the corner of the stack.
I believe this is the new technique of cheating money, done by the people who are responsible of placing the money into the ATMs. In the stack of money which is to be placed into the ATM, one RM50 note is folded nicely in half, for every one note taken out of the stack of money. The folded RM50 notes are then placed at the edge of the stack and positioned in the ATM where the money would be counted. With that done, every one folded note would be counted by the machine as two notes. I may be wrong about how and why it happened, but I would like to warn everyone about this incident.

Please be careful when withdrawing money from the ATM (it may happen to other banks as well) and do count your money to be sure. If such an incident really happened to you (*touch wood*), please do call up the bank to complain about this. If everyone keeps quiet about this, the bank may be unaware of such incidents and the people responsible may just continue doing what they do without getting caught!
Even if it is actually because of the ATM malfunctioning, the bank should know about this and there is also a chance of you getting your money back."

Shilpa Lee

This lady is gifted.

She has the brain and body.

And she got all the ups and downs in her life, which got her to experience some different lifestyles. No wonder she never regret of what she is doing!
Sometimes when I m too sick with my job, I’l be thinking of being like her. Trying to escape from the normal chores and doin things that I like, and most importantly can earn lotsa $. Well, of course in a different way. I’m not too sure what’s in her mind, but having a lifestyle like her is every girls’ wish. I mean being treated like a princess and perhaps having some guy to pay for your shopping goodies…Besides, she’s still getting respects from her clients despite her status as an ‘escort’. Isn’t that wonderful?

My mind is getting hay-wire these days.

Plain Jane

As to further prevent unnecessary use of bandwith in the office, the network dept has took a drastic move as to ban all personal blog domains as well. Such a great effort to keep track of these personal domain! Life is boring without blogs. Apart from blogging locally (using Word sheet), now I couldn’t even read blogs (be it in blogspot, wordpress, innit nuffnang, and various personal domains). Life sucks in da ofis!
Well, life does really sucks in my workplace, boss is dumb, salary is so-so, work amount sometimes unbearable, and teammates sucks! Darn sucks! Sucks! Sucks!
As an outcome of being so much in a mundane environment, I have slowly turned into a self-centered person just like the rest of my mind-your-own-business teammates. I realize about this and there is nothing I could do to change myself. I might as well call myself Jane, poor Jane!

Flashing back to 10 years ago, Jane was a mischievous gal whom (like any other teenage gals) enjoys gossiping, go craze over bands, cute guys and read junk mags (tabloids, gossips etc). Jane giggles along with her GFs whenever she sees Prince William photos over those mags (well, he was darn cute back then!). Despite unpopular, she has lots of companions, those naïve and innocent girls back then who were also her classmates. Jane was a huge fan of 911 band, but unfortunately was being forbade by parents to go for any of their concerts. Despite that, she and her sis still watched MTVs and scream and yell in front of it. Jane did her best in whatever she do as to impress her crush(which eventually never happen). Jane’s life was perfect and carefree, but now all is left is just memories.

Cheated? Not another time!

Is it unethical when you try to put a bad name on someone's business?
Well, i'm not sure if the thing i m posting here is legal or whether it comes from a trusted material, but anyway, instead of having malicious intention to ruin someone's biz, i m here to convey the message
"Please check the food price before ordering"

As circulated over the net:
Be careful n check prices especially when ordering fish dishes. This is not the first time we hear of this type of complaint and it won't be the last as we are all trusting people who don't normally ask about food prices before we order, some say 'pai seh' to ask price and "if you need to ask the price means you can't afford to eat the dish" ......" if no money don't order expensive food". I still think it is best to ask for the price if not sure to avoid such expensive bill.

Last week, I brought my guests to Genting Highlands. After a day 'above the clouds', we decided to have dinner at the Gohtong Jaya area on the way down. We ordered some dishes and decided to have a steamed fish as well. So the captain recommended 'sultan fish'. The steamed fish came. HALF, and plain steamed. Good & fine. But when the bill came, it came to over $500 !! We were shocked !! We were told the fish was 1.4kg (& please bear in mind, its ONLY HALF A FISH ) at RM 320 per kg! RM 420!! This was daylight robbery. We were not informed by the Captain that a kg of the Sultan fish would cost us RM 320 and there was also no signs of such pricings anywhere in the restaurant. When we checked with the cashier, she told us, its correct !!
Of cos, it was our mistake for not asking the price first. Anyway, on the way back to KL, we stopped at Unique Seafood, PJ, where one can choose a live fish. The most expensive Soon Hock swimming in the tank is RM135 per kilo. Asked them about the Sultan fish, it is going for RM100 a kilo. Will be sending this letter to the newspapers, Tourism board, etc etc; and friends, pls pass on to all on yr email list.

Nux's Comment: I'm shocked to see the bill (though is not mine!). I felt sorry for the victims above. Hopefully, by doing smart (asking price), we could prevent such "felt cheated" situation.
