Baan Thai 2 Seafood & Thai Cuisine Restaurant @ Kuchai Lama

Dinner with family on last Sunday in this well-established Thai restaurant located nearby our place.
The restaurant is huge but fret not, service was quick and food quality was consistent. The place has a good 'fengsui' with manmade water stream 'flowing' in the middle of the dining hall.
The place seems to be well designed to ensure good ventilation with a few giant ceiling fans and bamboo layered walls.
The menu is extensive with dishes ranging from various seafood to chicken and pork dishes.
We ordered:
Steamed Siakap Fish in Spicy Lime Sauce @ RM49.50
The fish was fresh and goes well with the sour lime sauce. Quite appetizing!
 Stir-fried Water Spinach @ RM14.30
The taste is quite similar to the one I had in BKK...excellent fish sauce!
 Stir-fried Minced Pork in Basil @ RM22.00
I can eat this with lotsa rice...but beware of the cili padi!
Deep-fried Chicken in Pandan Leaves @ RM26.50 for 6 pieces
The chicken is well marinated (with aromatic turmeric and lemongrass)
We also ordered a jug of Pandan water @ RM5.50, which is enough for 5 person.
For dessert, we shared three bowls of Red Ruby @ RM5.50 each
All the dishes taste great and quite close to those I had in BKK.
No doubt coz this place is featured in TripAdvisor with good ratings.
In case u are 'adventurous' in exploring the premise, you will find some hilarious signboards all around the place, such as:
and this (at the payment counter)...
Total price for the meal: RM167.60 (for 5 pax) inclusive of 10% Service Charge and 6% Service Tax

WTF

The title of this post sounds vulgar, but that's the name of the caterer that prepared the 'healthy meal' for our makan-makan on last Friday. That was our second makan-makan of the year and this time the theme is healthy eating, in conjunction with the 'Health & Wellness' week.
three 'chefs' were brought in to prepare some fresh salads and burgers on the spot.
Our healthy meal - Pumpkin soup, tophat, salads and vegetarian Tex-Mex burger.
The pumpkin soup and tophat are my favorites. I had second helpings to get myself full...
In case you are wondering, WTF is an established restaurant located in Bangsar. They provides food catering and delivery services.
Meanwhile, earlier that day....I rejected the final 'lousang' with my colleagues, knowingly that we would have an early dinner (above) at 6:45pm.
Hence I went to tapao some cheapo food from the canteen....
it was so cheap that I couldn't believe my eyes....
Plain fried rice and fried kuey teow for just RM2! well, these are unsold 'leftovers' for breakfast.
I doused some rendang gravy onto the rice otherwise it will be too dry to swallow...lolx!

The Office Makan-makan

This was our office makan-makan back in January. Just some simple dishes from the caterer after our Townhall meeting.
abundance food, and I even tapao for the next day~~
Nothing much to shout about, food was OK, good to fill the hungry stomach!
and then the following week, the other dept was having their own makan makan. They over-ordered, hence invited me to join in for the dinner.
I was surprised to see a lion head on the table and the buffet line was nicely decorated with CNY theme!
I asked the organiser whether the makan makan is for their dept CNY celebration, but he replied 'No'...it was the caterer being so 'smart' & 'creative' wanna decorate like that! oh, pandainye…
 I had sago melon dessert
 and ice kacang
my simple meal...am thankful to the organiser for inviting me....
coz I ended also tapao some for the next day....lolx!
Well, before the CNY ends....let me wish u....
 and....
sorry, I dun read Chinese, but I hope the above are some good wishes....

Glorious food!

Can't think of a proper title for this post...but it's all about food!
Our Jan salary was out early, somewhere mid of the month, followed by bonus the week after, a few days before CNY.
To sort of 'celebrate' our early salary + bonus, me and my 'office' partner-in-crime decided to eat out during lunch at the nearby shopping mall...
where else?
at our fav place - Dave's Deli!
It has been some time since we last had Chicken Parmigiana. It is filling enough and could last till dinner. The price is now RM17 after 30% off. Seems like slightly increased from last year.
yours truly is contented with the bonus hence to personally celebrate it, went to McD to have another round of prosperity burger...This was on 'chor-2'
yummmzzz with orange fizzy drink
Then on 'chor-4', went jalan jalan and did some real shopping (yea, I shop during CNY holidays). Tried the curry udon with beef @ RM18.80 nett (somewhere there, can't remember). Having the same price, I'd preferred the fish katsu curry rice than this as it is more value-for-money with 2 huge pieces of fish katsu.
Then today, after 2 weeks of eating 'lavishly', went back to moderate mode....
The office is having some sort of wellness week and provided us free breakfast - Chicken Wrap!
I kept it for lunch with the FOC Ribena. I found that the Ribena was too sweet for me despite labelled as 'Light'...
Need to shed off some weight after all the snacking during CNY week....

KFC Spicy Chick N Go

A colleague told me that KFC has recently introduced a new seasonal item 'Spicy Chick N Go' or their version of 'ayam gunting' aka 'uncle Bob chicken' aka 'Shihlin XXXL Chicken'.
It is priced at only RM4.90nett!
So I purposely went to try out when passing by KFC on my way home. It was so so so GOOD!
It has a combo meal which comes with drink and cheesy wedges for RM8.90
I did not order the combo but instead had the ala carte and add on with the promotional cheesy wedges (RM2.50nett)
The chicken piece isn't that huge as the XXL chicken, perhaps around the size of my palm and is seasoned well with chili powder. It is a boneless chicken like a chicken chop. Pairing it with cheesy wedges is a perfect combination making it a filling meal.
I tink i'm gonna order this combination until the promotion ends...

CNY Decorations in SkyAvenue, Genting

It is all 'red' in SkyAvenue…
The centre stage is decorated with Lions head and big fat round rats, surrounded by Chinese golden coins and ingots
on another end, there are lotsa red lanterns hung at the concourse area
and another stage filled with big fat round yellow rats
Meanwhile, there is a 'wishing tree' nearby the entrance of Crockfords Hotel
 and some very instagrammable background
a pair of Lions welcoming visitors to the hotel
 very colorful yet oriental ambience
I wonder what's with the giant sweets?
a row of repetitive decorations, but it looks good, otherwise it would be very plain and empty.
I can see genuine effort in putting up all these decorations, unlike some malls that recycled their X'mas decorations (such as Xmas tree with Chinese lanterns~~)
