Kinda busy lately with tight work schedule and a comin' exam. Anyhow, it's already mid-week (and I'm still far behind in completing my tasks! gosh?!!)...
But i'm gonna put up a short post here...before my blog becomes dormant...
Here's one late dinner that I had last Saturday. This is Hainanese chicken chop. I've been craving for Hainanese chicken chop and hope that one day I could try out the version in Yut Kee.
The below isn't from any established eatery, but just some neighbourhood western corner that I used to frequent back when I was a teenage skool kid.
this place used to be a stall where u dined under the stars (open air road side lah!) and it quickly became popular around the neighbourhood coz it offers large jar of fruit juices and patrons can enjoy sipping them while havin' long chats under the stars. Definitely a place for 'young dating couples' back then. But nowadays, couples dun date at such cheapo place anymore (inhaling roadside dust & nearby longkang summore!).
Somehow this establishment has upgraded to a shop since 2 years ago. It is still run by the family and the son has took over the kitchen. Food prices have gone up too, but still is as popular and crowded on weekends evening.
Bon Appetit!
I have eaten at Sri Petaling for a few years now but have never noticed this place. I guess mainly because I don't like to eat localised western food.
ReplyDeleteI believe when you eat there now, it will bring back good childhood memories for you as you like to eat their food when young.
I have eaten the chicken chop at Yuk Kee and did not like it one but because I don't eat the skin of chicken and I really dislike lots of sauce in my food but I guess for people who loves it, the Yuk Kee chicken chop is very delicious, gua.
Sri Petaling has boomed so much until I could not find my way around during the last visit. I used to work there for some 10 years opposite the Daorae Korean restaurant area. I must go find this Hainanese Chicken Chop. Looks so delicious and calling me as usual.
ReplyDeleteHmm, sounds abit like Cowboy Delight and Rendezvous Steak Garden. I like this type of local Western food sometimes too. And I like that only Malaysians seem to be able to appreciate the food in these places. :P
ReplyDeleteMun: localized western food seems like not ur cup of tea. I like my chicken chop full of gravy so that i can dip it with salads and fries...otherwise it would be too dry.
ReplyDeleteTwilight Man: yea this place has changed so much that i couldn't even recognised some shops...Many shops opened, then closes and was replaced with other business/eatery. I think SP is over-developed nowadays.
RealGunners: i like these type of local food (but depending on what to-offer, beef/lamb steak is a big no-no!). For localised western food, i will normally stick to chicken chop & spaghetti.
I had tried Hainanese Pork Chop at Han's but I don't really like it as I find the sauce too sour
ReplyDeleteLibby: til now I still couldn't get the actual taste of Hainanese Chicken Chop, some did it sour, while some are sweet. I think I need to get to the origin shop that specializes this(or some famously claimed origin of Hainanese Chicken Chop)...
