I can't remember when was the last time I had steamboat...it has been looooooong...well I mean very long....like about a decade ago (!?!)
someone got a free voucher and here's what we've ordered...a steamboat for 2 pax and some other side dishes.
the ingredients were pretty standards, but it's fresh!
As usual, the soup base were spicy tom yum and clear chicken soup.
the other side dishes that we ordered - a huge plate of 'yong chow' fried rice and sweet & sour chicken
and we also tried out the smoky duck (it shaped like char siu, but it's duck meat)
The food portion were too much for the 3 of us. I hav to 'tapau' the leftovers, to avoid wastage.
Stay tuned on what I did with the leftovers.
Same here, forgot when was the last time I had steamboat tim!
ReplyDeletesteamboat?? i always remember and will never forget i have steamboat every year for CNY reunion dinner since the past 20 years!! and not only on the CNY eve but for a couple of days after that to clear up the food, hahaha..
ReplyDeleteSure anot? A decade??? But ah... technically, if you cook instant noodles with some "liews", then that's sort of a steamboat too. :P
ReplyDeleteHayley: haha, we are in the same boat!
ReplyDeleteSK: so nice to have steamboat with family members on CNY. It's so fun, summore u get to have that for a couple of days..no need to think of what to eat/cook for the 2nd, 3rd...days of CNY.
RealGunners: yea wor, it has been over a decade. Normally when eat out with family/frens, we normally order dishes rather than having steamboat. The steamboat places in my area are all-the-time crowded & stuffy & expensive...we usually avoid such places.
I see the huge prawns. I don't like to eat steamboat so I also have not eaten it for quite sometime. I don't have the patience to wait for the food to cook and for the food to cool down before eating.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I've eaten steamboat too!
ReplyDeleteI think the last time I went was 1-2 years ago. My better half isn't a huge fan and neither am I, to be honest, so we don't makan steamboat that often.
Mun: yea, five huge prawns. Same here, we dun have patience especially when hungry.
ReplyDeleteHuai Bin: It's kinda fun actually especially on a cold day & kids will definitely like to play 'masak-masak' with steamboat.
