Here's one "Vadai" that i had for dinner. It's a savoury fritter-type snack originated from South India but available anywhere here even at mamak stalls. First tried vadai when i was around 10 years old from some pasar malam in Sungai Besi old town...that was long...long...time ago. Another type of Vadai sold here have a hole in the middle, similar to donut but with a slightly smaller size.
Very rich in spices, some even have cili padi (bird's eye chili) for extra kick in the flavor & spicyness. One of my fav snack thus far.
BON APPETIT!
oh yes Iove vadai!! this one you showed, but my favorite has got to be the "donut".. I used to buy from a stall opposite the PosLaju at KL Sentral.. very nice!!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes SK is our Indian Thambee and he could eat one dozen Vadai while watching a Bollywood movie. I love to eat Vadai too!
ReplyDeleteI love to eat vadai because I like the taste of the spices. The best I have eaten are bought from a van in Bangsar Baru.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of my sitaupoh.. She also likes vadai.. A lot.. Everytime when we passby the same stall, she would be buying the vadais only..
ReplyDeleteSK: the donut-shape vadai is also my fav...i m greedy coz i like both!
ReplyDeleteTwilight Man: u understand him alot huh...both of u like closed couple! opsss...i mean brothers!
Mun: yea i like the spices too ;-) but sometimes accidentally bite into the cili padi, become too 'hot' to handle!
Princess Ribbon: haha..ur sitaupoh really like spicy stuff hor...Eat more spicy food, later scold people also easier, coz got more 'fire'...LOL!
I love vadai! It's a great snack~
ReplyDeleteNot my favorite snack. I don't know, when it comes to kuih, I still prefer the Malay or Chinese styled kuih..
ReplyDeleteThere is one nice Vadai stall at SS3 pasar mlm every tues. They have a lot of other things too. ...if you happens to be around that area can try out la
ReplyDeleteHayley: agree!
ReplyDeleteRealGunners: Indian snacks doesn't suit ur tastebud?
Small Kucing: thx for recommending! will try out if i happen to be there.
I love this! Love the fragrance of the spices and herbs used in it. Very nice! 3 for RM1.00 at my regular Malay kuih stall here. Never really tried an authentic Indian one - we do not have that here.
ReplyDeleteNice! It's Thaipusam, good to eat some Indian food. I love Indian sweets myself, they use a lot of ghee and milk and sugar, it's amazing! :)
