Good Deeds

Despite living in rat-race environment and being a materialistic person, I do have feelings and empathy for those who "doesn't live with sufficient health and/or wealth". Ok, I ain't generous in terms of giving out donation. I seldom donate $$$ nowadays, coz it's just difficult for me to differentiate a scam.
Thus, i have switched to a different method of lending help...which is to donate
BLOOD

YEA, i enjoy the sensation of being poke by a thick needle, thru my flesh, deep into the vein, seeing my blood oozes out from the tube towards a 350ml packet.
*for those who have no idea how much 350ml is, try imagine a can of soft drink + another 50ml of liquid
Upon completing, the nurse even put the packet on my lap while she went away looking for tools as to cut off the tube. I got a nice view of my own blood, before bidding it goodbye...
*too bad, i didn't bring my cam wif me to take its picture...
On the other hand, my dad was abit generous, coz he is more willing to fork out some $ to buy this charity dinner ticket

Have you done your part yet?

Petai

This is not a nutrition report...someone forwarded a mail that listed the advantages of taking petai. I dun eat petai since kid (yucksss!) but after reading tis, i might need to re-consider.

As copied from the mail

Little did you know ...... after reading THIS, you'll NEVER look at petai in the same way again! Petai contains three natural sugars-sucrose, fructose and glucose. Combined with fiber, petai gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proved that just two servings of petai provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder petai is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way petai can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND among people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating petai. This is because petai contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS(premenstrual syndrome): Forget the pills - eat petai. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anaemia: High in iron, petai can stimulate the production of haemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anaemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the petai industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating petai at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fiber, including petai in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Heartburn: Petai has a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating petai for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on petai between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of the petai skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Ulcers: Petai is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control: Many other cultures see petai as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium petai snack.

Strokes: According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine", eating petai as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%".

So, as you can see, petai really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrates, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A Petai a day keeps the doctor away".

blah-blah-blah...the list goes on...Nutritionist out there, is this true???

Pisang Goreng, anyone?

Watch out for these unscrupulous hawker selling plastic coated pisang goreng!

Moody me

My apologies for being absent from my blog and your blog. Darn terrible mood these days :-(

Currently hav been in dilemma, which has drained lots of my energy.

On the other hand…I m too fed up with some of my colleagues’ attitude. Apart from their ‘many’ MCs (gone MC for check ups or MCs for some ‘rest’)…these people are getting less productive these days and I m doing a BIG part of their work. Which mean I’m the only committed fella left in the entire team which got me to go full-force. These people are doin much of their personal work and doin lesser in office but being paid with huge pay cheque! What a farking team! I gotta break this trap and move on with my career…wish me luck!
Lately, I have been tinking of goin to lotsa places, but the weather has drawn me back…The weekend was either too sunny or too humid with rain and thunderstorm and eventually I had to cancel my intention. So, these days, I m oni left with one option – being a couch potato and spend my entire weekend zzZZzzz and eating. No fun at all! Believe it or not, I’ve slept the whole day on last Sunday. Sien!
Company annual dinner is coming soon, which I dun feel like goin too. Well, call me lazy, but goin for a dinner at some unknown place after job isn’t my cup of tea. I hate socializing and just want a peaceful rest after a tiring working day.
Moody…moodymoody me

Pretty sight

While strolling alongside pedestrian walkway at Jln Bukit Bintang, i was stunned with these flowers...Apart from being colorful, such array with different types of floras creates a very pretty sight. Besides Merdeka Square and Parliament area, I could hardly find any of these in other parts of the city...
Look closer...These are real flowers!

Cakes, Tarts and Doughnuts

Few days back was my parent 31st wedding anniversary. Though they didn't really celebrate such occasion, I bought them each a piece of cake...
Pandan cake (in green) and blueberry cheese cake. I did not even bother whether they like it or not, coz at the end all of us in the family will be having a lil' part of it.
Since i only bought 2, the 'pleasure' wasn't felt much. Thus, as to compensate, I went to J.Co and bought half dozen of doughnuts. Now, everyone can enjoy!
i queued for almost half an hour for this!!! it reminds me of queueing in front of Rotiboy shop (a bakery shop which no longer exist @ Midvalley) some 4 years ago apart from doughnuts, i also bought some durian tarts...yummylicious!
doesn't look nice, doesn't smells good, but I love it! finally, such delicacies are to be accompanied with home-cooked red bean 'tong sui'....

My appetite is back!

This is orchid-lah!

Our neighbours went for an overseas trip and hav pass us their house key in order for us to go over to help them water their plants. Well, they have a huge collection of orchids in their garden. My dad stole some of them to decorate our car porch brought a few pots to our house so that he doesn't hav to go over to our neighbour's garden all the time.

Their collection of orchids can beat those varieties in botanical garden! These are lovely and colourful ;-)

Oh, this is so CUTE!!!

I saw this in Xniquet's blogroll. His current blogroll is kinda cool, representing each of us with an avatar...What surprises me is that, the avatar does represents me accurately! Ok, at least i m featured with my shoulder length hair...
I like this avatar, it made me looks so decent! LOL!

Happy Moments

Me and mum went to Genting some few days back just for the sake of getting fresh air. It has been 3 years since my last visit. The cost for one night stay (with breakfast) is RM 38.88! Darn cheap for 2 persons! Of course, you can’t expect much of it except for some basic necessities provided by First World Hotel. This is also my first time staying in First World, which is known for its eerie stories. Well, I dun encounter any spirit or ghost over there, instead I hav a pleasant stay despite staying in their cheapest and lousiest room.

The cable cars that take visitors up to the peak of the highlands. So-called “longest and fastest in South East Asia”.
Nice view from my room window – Genting Theme Park!
What’s in my room?

The surrounding was misty and cold, night temperature was around 13-14 degree Celcius. Upon checking in, we went out to hunt look for dinner. Food isn’t cheap, whatever you are having there would cost you around 30-60% higher as compared to the city. We had gali mee (curry noodles) at some mini food court…Nothing can beat the satisfaction of having a bowl of hot and spicy noodles on a cold freezing evening!

The interior of the food court is very oriental, with old fashioned benches, wooden tables and Chinese lanterns.

Well, I like this most! I was hoping the string to loosen and seeing the chicken ass sit on someone’s head! *wicked laugh

Ok, enuff with my imagination!

Back to the photos...
Jars of 'tong sui' (above) and fruits (below)
After filling up our tummy, we went to casino and gamble! sight seeing and go back to our room for a good rest.
Ok lar, I admit that I went to casino but not for gambling ler…just looking around ;-)
The next day, we woke up early as not to miss out the sumptuous breakfast…

I had a lil’ bit of everything - nasi lemak, fried meehoon, sausages, omelettes, buns, local kuihs, cakes, porridges, salads, fruits…etc.
When it comes to buffet, I tend to over-eat, coz I dun get such chance at home. Oh so-full!

Some of the food I took… Porridges (above) and kuihs (below)
The healthy ones...
The oily and fattening ones…
And my favourites…
I had too much till I dun feel like eating for the next few days!

Overall, i m happy with the outing as i get to eat lotsa foods breathe fresh air and spent quality time with mum!
